Fire Safety with Cinder

Meet the Fire Marshall, Tom Petty, and Dog Cinder on Wednesday, July 17 at 3pm here at North Channel Library! They will share life-saving safety tips including tips on dialing 9-1-1, information on smoke alarms, and good fires vs. bad fires. This program is recommended for ages 2-12 years.

Strike, Scrape and Shake Show

See Mark Shelton perform his high energy Strike, Scrape and Shake Show on Wednesday, July 10 at 3pm! Hear about the history of percussion and be amazed by body percussion with many instruments...Mark is a Young Audiences performer. Recommended for ages 4 and up. The show will be in the Children's Area and no tickets are required.

Birds and Mammals

Find out all about our fine feathered friends and fellow mammals on Wednesday, July 3 at 3pm, when the Deussen Park Traveling Naturalist presents Birds and Mammals here at North Channel Library! The Naturalist brings five animals with her when she visits us, and you will have the option to touch at least a few of them...This program is recommended for children ages 3-10 years. We will meet in the Children's Area and no tickets are needed.

Pokemon Club

Meet and battle other Pokemon gamers & trainers here at North Channel Library on Saturday, June 29 from 3-4pm!  Bring your cards and/or Nintendo DS games for fun and enjoy  themed activities and refreshments too! Make your own origami Pikachu...Pokemon Club usually meets the last Saturday of every month and is recommended for children ages 6-12 years. No registration is required. 

Pokemon is licensed by Pokemon and Nintendo.

Join us when the Asia Society of Houston presents Kiragami Crafting on Friday, June 28 at 2pm. Experience Japanese culture while learning the fine art of combining origami and scissor cutting skills! This program is recommended for ages 8-12 years. We will meet in the Public Meeting Room. All materials are provided.

Toddler Time in Space!

North Channel Library presents Toddler Time in Space with the Library Director! Join us Thursday, June 20 at 11:15 am in the Children's Area for out-of-this-world fun! Now toddlers get a chance to Trek the Galaxy! Recommended for ages 18 months - 3 years and their parents or caregivers. No tickets required.

Captain Zark's Intergalactic Space Show

Captain Zark will be here Wednesday, June 19 at 3pm to take us on an Intergalactic Space Adventure! Enjoy his galactic jokes, out of this world magic, and even a visit from an alien! You don't need a ticket-just come on in to the Children's Area...This program is recommended for ages 4 and up.

Don't forget you will earn 5 points toward your reading goal for the summer just for attending this program. Reading or listening to a book earns 10 points and once you reach 100, you will earn a book! Sign up and find out how all ages can participate at

Build A Space Colony!

It's time for NASA@MyLibrary again! Join us on Saturday, June 15 at 11am and Build A Space Colony through big team play with life size props! Will your team's structure pass the UV Shelter test to protect your "astronaut"? This program is recommended for ages 6-12 years. Free tickets are available at the front desk and we will meet in the Public Meeting Room. All materials supplied. Program length is 1 hr.
