Freeman's 2010 Reader Nation Winner

Congratulations to Susana Udengaard, Freeman Branch Winner for the 2010 Adult Summer Reading Program. Susana’s name was randomly drawn from those who registered for Reader Nation 2010 and logged the titles for 4 books that she read during this year’s Summer Reading Program (June 4th-August 6th). As a member of the Freeman Mystery Book Club, she reads a lot of mysteries, and over the summer she enjoyed some of Robin Paige’s books, even though she typically doesn’t like books from the Victorian era. Susana also volunteers weekly at the library, and was very excited to receive the $50 Amazon.com gift card because she already had plans to buy a book for her grandson. She loves the library and is looking forward to participating in next summer’s program.

Reader Nation - Journey to the Amazon

ReaderNationSummer reading starts this Friday, June 4th, and this year Reader Nation is “journeying to the Amazon”, so get ready for your armchair vacation. We have bookmarks, databases, web sites and friendly employees ready to help you decide on your next read.

Age 18 or over? Register for summer reading between Friday, June 4th and Saturday, August 7th, read or listen to 4 books, and log those titles by Saturday, August 14th to be entered for a chance to win one of the grand prizes provided by the Harris County Public Library Friends Council.

The 1st place winner will receive a bookstore gift card in the amount of $200, 2nd prize is a $150 bookstore gift card, and 3rd prize is a $100 bookstore gift card. There will also be a winner from each branch who will receive a $50 bookstore gift card.

Romance in the Library

I am excited to announce that Freeman now has a romance section on the 2nd floor!  After many requests from our romance fans (of which I am one!) we have finally been able to set aside some space to highlight our romance authors.  If you have trouble finding it, please don't be afraid to ask us at the reference desk - we'll be happy to point it out to you.
