1001 Books Before Kindergarten

Studies have shown that families who start reading aloud to their children at birth help to strengthen their language skills and building vocabulary.  The program is designed to help prepare your children for kindergarten by developing these skills.

1,001 books sounds like a lot of books, but if you read only three books a day, you will be done in just a year !

For a log, come to StoryTime on Tuesdays at 10:30 AM, Baby Lapsit on Wednesdays at 10:30 AM or go to the Kids site on HCPL's website http://kids.hcpl.net/pandt/1001BooksBeforeKindergarten.htm

to print your own.  Books read at storytimes count, too. When you complete a log, bring it to the Children's Librarian to have it dated and to get a log for the next level.  Continue on with each log until you reach 1,001 books read.

Dr. Duck visits from Urgent Care for Kids

At story time Tuesday, Dr. Duck visited the West University Library.  He listened to the stories and sang with us.  Dr. Duck wanted to let the community know about the Urgent Care for Kids facility nearby on Bissonnet just past Kirby Drive.  There are information flyers and magnets upstairs in the Children's Section.
