Superhero Boot Camp

Spiderman will swing into the West University Library on Wednesday June 24 to lead children in great interactive super hero training activities. This 3 PM program is for children ages 4 to 12 years.  We will present the program next door at the Senior Center auditorium. Children are encouraged to wear /bring the masks and shields they made at last week’s craft program. 

Teen Martial Arts Program

Tuesday June 16 at 2:30 PM, tweens and teens will be able to learn some basic martial arts moves from the Bam Bam Martial Arts instructor.  The class will be 1 hour long and participants are asked to wear comfortable clothing that has no buttons, snaps or zippers.  This program is for tweens and teens ages 10 – 15 years.

The program will be in the auditorium at the Senior Center next to the library.

Superhero Craft Program

Children will have the opportunity to create their own super hero mask and shield at a library program on Wednesday June 17 at 3 PM.  While the children are waiting to create their masks or shields, they can spend time practicing their super hero aim by tossing bean bags through a Batman target.  All supplies are provided.

Balloon Twisting Program

Children are fascinated by balloons twisted in the shape of animals, swords or flowers. Wednesday June 10 at 3 PM, children - ages 5 to 12 years - will have the opportunity to learn how to twist balloons in a workshop led by Teri Stokes.  Teri is an expert balloon artist and her alter ego is Happy Heart the Clown.

Monty the Magician

    Monty the Magician  will start the Summer Reading Program on Wednesday June 3 at 3 PM.  Monty interacts with the audience as he amazes and enchants them with his brand of magic.  Children ages 4 to 12 are invited to attend.  This program will be next door at the Senior Center auditorium.

Summer Reading Countdown continues

People are starting to get excited about the start of the Summer Reading Program.  You can be checking out and reading your books, but signups will start on Monday June 1.  You can log on to the Library website and click on the Summer Reading Program for your age group.  This year it will be easier for adults to manage multiple readers under 1 main participant. 

Summer Reading is almost here

                        We're 2 weeks away from the start of the Summer Reading Program - June 1 through August 8. This year's theme is Heroes.  There will be activities and prizes for all ages - babies, children, tweens/teens and adults.

Preteen craft - Duct tape pouches

Pre teens will be able to make a duct tape zippered pouch during a craft program for Teen Tech Week.

The program will be Wednesday March 11 at 3:30 PM in the children's section upstairs.  This program is for pre teens ages 10 - 14 years.  All supplies provided by the library.   


Let's make luminarias

   Let's make luminarias.  Children can make a luminaria on Wednesday December 10 at 3:15 PM upstairs in the Library. Various ages can do the craft by coloring a bag or tracing stencils and cutting out shapes. Each participant will receive a glow stick to illuminate the finished luminaria.  All supplies are provided.

Summer is over

Our summer programs are over and we're getting ready for Back to School activities.  We hope you enjoyed your summer at the Library and will join us for seasonal craft programs, book discussions and more throughout the school year.
