Built to survive - Aquarium program

  Wednesday June 19 at 3 PM, Houston's Downtown Aquarium will bring an assortment of animals who have adapted over the years to survive.  This program is for children ages 5 years and up and will be held in the auditorium at the Senior Center next door.

Honey Dew the Clown at West U Library !

    Honey Dew the Clown will appear at the West University Library next Wednesday June 12 at 3 PM.  Be prepared for silliness, magic and possible surprises.  This program is for children of all ages.

Rainforest program started our summer

    Sandy from Moody Gardens engaged summer readers with interesting information and artifacts from the Moody Gardens Traveling Rainforest.  This started our our summer lineup.

 

Each child [ages 4 to 11 years] attending a program will receive a passport and a sticker for each program.  When the stickers are adhered to the passport pages, children wil be able to reflect back on the various countries and cultures they visited this summer.

Moody Gardens Rainforest program

     Moody Gardens brings their traveling rainforest program to the West University Library on Wednesday June 5 at 3 PM. Children will be drawn into the world of the rainforest through sounds, scents and animals.  The program will be next door at the Senior Center auditorium.  This program is for children ages 4 through 12 years.

Summer Reading Program for Babies

   Starting June 3, babies will have their own Summer Reading Program.  Ask for a registration form.  When you fill it out, you will receive a brochure listing numerous activities to share with your baby.  Some activities are reading to your baby, singing songs or nursery rhymes, blowing bubbles and more.  To complete the program, you just need to perform 10 of the activities to receive a free board book, a duck-shaped game piece [with your child's name] to post on the window upstairs , a certificate and to be entered into a drawing for a baby hat.  The program will run all summer, June 3 through August 10.

Celebrate Dr. Seuss

      Let's celebrate Dr. Seuss' wonderful imagination with a Dr. Seuss story time Tuesday March 12 at 10:30 AM.  Preschoolers and care givers will enjoy 2 Dr. Seuss books, some songs and a coloring craft.

We have lots of Dr. Seuss books here at the Library for you.

Bring your child to the Library Saturday

Saturday February 2 is Bring Your Child to the Library day.  There will be a special display of favorite books the staff recommends upstairs in the Children's Section.  Stop by and select a few to enjoy reading at home.

Unusual holiday music at story time

   Children and parents were treated to unusual holiday music at story time.  Customer Leo Sacchi, brought his musical garden hose to entertain children while they worked on a craft after story time.  He played the hose as he would a french horn.

Reindeer at the Library

  Monday evening customers were treated to the sight of 2 reindeer on the library lawn in anticipation of the West U tree lighting celebration.

Book Sale at the Library

Plan to stop by the West University Library this Saturday, November 3, from 10 AM to 2 PM for the Fall Book Sale.  We have a wonderful selection of children's and adult books.  Whatever you're looking for - cookbooks, history, fitness, current fiction - you'll find it at the Friends of the West University Library Fall Book Sale.

Prices range from $ .35 for paperbacks to $1 plus for hardback books.  See you there !
