Para Los Niños Storytime

Would you like your child to have a good start this school year? Do you want to explore the way your child learns? Then come join us Wednesday, September 18th at 11 am for our Para Los Niños Storytime. Para los Niños is a fun, educational, bilingual workshop designed by the Children’s Museum of Houston for the whole family. We will be reading stories, singing songs and enjoying hands on learning activities that will make your child’s learning fun and exciting.

Second Teen SRP Winner!

Congratulations to James Salazar!! He is our second winner of a backpack with books for the Teen Summer Reading Program!  James enjoys reading and this was his first time participating in our Summer Reading Program. Well done James!

Teen SRP Winner

Congratulations to Mariana Martinez!! She is the happy winner of the backpack with books for the Teen Summer Reading. Mariana enjoyed reading and volunteering her time this summer, helping with programs and shelving. Job well done Mariana!

Moo Cow at the library

Have you ever milked a cow? Well now is your chance! Mooove on over to the Galena Park Branch Wednesday, August 7th at 10:30 am and join us for a special program. Southwest Dairy Farmers will be showing us how to milk a cow and talk about where dairy products come from.  There is one week left to the Summer Reading Program, but don’t worry there is still time left to sign up, login your books and get your prizes just visit your library or our website 

Aboriginal Rock Art @ Your Library

Do you like to paint? And would like to paint on rocks? Then come join us this Thursday, August 1st at 3pm for our Art from Down Under Program. We will be exploring the ancient Australian art of aboriginal rock painting. You will be able to paint your favorite animal, flower or thing on your own special rock. Animals Out of this World

Watch out! Exotic and native animals are coming to Galena Park! Come join us at the Alvin D. Baggett Community Center (1302 Keene St Galena Park, Tx 77547) at 3:00 pm for our Out of this World program. A Traveling Naturalist from Challenger Seven Memorial Park will bring some very interesting species and demonstrate which animals are exotic and which ones are native. See you there!

We All Scream For Ice Cream!

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!! Come join us Wednesday, July 3rd at 3:00 pm for a fun and delicious ice cream making program in the meeting room. Be ready to shake and dance with your ice cream. It is going to get cold so bring your winter gloves.

Next stop… India! We will be making Rangoli (a folk art from India) Thursday, June 20th at 3:00 pm in the library parking lot. So come join us for this fun and colorful program. Taste of Japan

Kon'nichiwa!! Did you ever want to go to Japan but it was too far away? Well, here is your chance! The Galena Park Branch Library will bring a little of Japan to you. Summer Reading Program Is Here! First Stop: Bubble Festival

 Summer Reading Program has begun!! This year’s theme is Have Book: Will Travel. We will be traveling around the world and visit a different country each week; so walk, run, ride, drive, fly, or teleport to the library and join the fun.  You can also register online at or register with a staff member at the library.
Our first stop will be exploring the park. We will have a bubble festival for the whole family. Join us Thursday, June 6th at 3 pm at the park for a bubblelicious program. Sun block and refreshments are highly encouraged.
