Game Day for Adults

Games 2Do you get tired of sitting at home watching crummy TV shows? Get out of the house! Research shows you’re healthier and live longer if you socialize. So, come on over to the library and hang out with other grownups the last Wednesday of every month at 1 pm. You can chat while playing card games, domino games, or board games or working on a jigsaw puzzle. We hope to see you March 27!

Child Safety Event at the Library / Evento de seguridad infantil en la biblioteca

Child ID[En español abajo] An estimated 460,000 children are reported missing every year in the United States. The timely and accurate distribution of child identification information plays a critical role in locating missing children. Volunteers from the Child ID Program will be at the Aldine Library on Thursday, February 21, at 10:30 am to make FREE ID cards for your kids. This ID system was created with help from law enforcement officials to ensure it captures all of the vital information required by the Amber Alert system. They are completely free, and the process only takes about 5 minutes per child. No information about the child is kept by anyone other than the parent or guardian.

Finance 50+ Presentation by AARP

Finance jarsOn Wednesday, February 13, 1:00-2:30 pm, a volunteer from AARP will present a seminar called Finance 50+. He will share what he learned from experience: how to make the most of the money you have, how to maintain a budget, control debt, and avoid scams. Please join us. You might learn something truly helpful!

Book Club for Adults

Calling Me HomeFor our next meeting on Wednesday, February 20, at 1 pm, we are reading “Calling Me Home” by Julie Kibler. Copies are available for checkout at the library. It’s about Isabelle, an 89-year-old white woman, who asks a huge favor of her hairdresser, Dorrie, a black single mom. Isabelle wants Dorrie to drop everything and drive her from Texas to a funeral in Cincinnati. Tomorrow. With no explanation. Dorrie reluctantly agrees.

Join us as we hear readings from books, make a snack, play games and win prizes! We will even be giving away A FULL SIZED DOLL, a mini doll, and several books!

Book Club: "The Husband’s Secret" by Liane Moriarty

Husband's Secret.The library’s adult book club will be discussing "The Husband’s Secret" by the wildly popular author Liane Moriarty at our meeting on Wednesday, January 23, at 1 pm. Please join us. Copies of the book are available for checkout at the library. Moriarty puts three women in impossible situations and doesn't cut them any slack.

What the County Attorney Does for You

Vince RyanHarris County Attorney Vice Ryan will visit the Aldine Library on Wednesday, January 16, at 2 pm to present “Introducing the County Attorney’s Office” to area residents. The County Attorney and his staff safeguard the rights of county residents and protect them from a broad range of public nuisances. Everyone is invited to come and find out what the County Attorney’s Office does for the benefit all county residents.
