The Pct. 4 Fun4Seniors trip to Santa’s Wonderland in College Station was great!  The Wonderland is open through December 30, in case you want to stretch out your holidays.  Keep your eyes on our events calendar for more Fun4Seniors trips.

Fun4Seniors Bus Trip!

If you’re age 50 or better, hop on the bus! Harris County Precinct 4’s bus is headed for Santa’s Wonderland, which happens to be in College Station. The bus will leave from the Fairbanks Library’s parking lot at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, December 18, and will return at 10 pm. Cost for the trip is $12 per person. The bus will stop for dinner (at your own expense) at Wrangler Steakhouse. Participants must register by calling the Senior Adult Program at 281-893-3726. Before your registration can be confirmed, payment by check, made payable to Fun4Seniors, must be mailed to Harris County Precinct 4, 1731 Hugh Road, Houston, TX 77067. Book Sale Saturday, December 7

Book sale 2The Friends of the Fairbanks Library are having a book sale Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 am-3 pm.  They are selling dozens of books that look brand new and would make fabulous, inexpensive Christmas gifts (about $2 each).  They also have music CDs, books on CD, DVDs, and lots of VHS tapes.  Come to the sale Saturday and spend lots of money.  It’s all used to pay for library materials and programs.

Book Sale Coming Soon!

Coming SoonThe Friends of the Library will be having a book sale on Saturday, December 7, from 10:00 am-3:00 pm.  You can help by donating books, CDs or DVDs that are clean and in very good condition.  Donations are tax deductible and all proceeds help provide funding for library programs and materials.  You can also volunteer to help set up the sale on Friday afternoon or work the sale on Saturday.

Gulf Coast Reads

Dog StarsGulf Coast Reads is an effort to get as many people as possible in the multi-county, greater Houston area to read the same book during October, so that we’ll all have something in common to talk about.  This year’s book is The Dog Stars by Peter Heller.  It describes the life of Hig, a small-plane pilot, after a flu pandemic has wiped out most of the population of the planet Earth.  We are having two events at the Fairbanks Branch Library in connection with Gulf Coast Reads.  On Thursday, October 17, at 4:30, we are hosting a discussion of the book.  Everyone is invited to read the book and come and talk about it.  Please let us know if you plan on coming.  In addition, bec

Book bagsThe Friends of the Fairbanks Library are selling beautiful book bags in royal blue, purple and maroon.  They are an amazing deal at only $2 each, and the net proceeds help fund library materials and programs.  These bags are made of tough, earth-friendly recycled materials and could also be used for shopping, so you may want to buy several!
