SRP 2013BHCPL’s Summer Reading Program is not just for children.  Adults can join in, too.  Just register online, read 5 books or 600 minutes between June 3 and August 10, log your titles or minutes online, and you’re automatically entered in drawings for ereaders and Amazon.com gift cards.  Give the Amazing Read challenges a try for additional fun!

Book Sale June 15

Book sale_3The Friends of the Fairbanks Library are having a book sale this Saturday, June 15, from 10:00-3:00, in the library meeting room. They have a great selection of all kinds of books, including many that look brand new.  They also have a lot of VHS tapes and some DVDs and CDs. The prices are fantastic! Come and buy lots of stuff! All proceeds benefit the Fairbanks Library and help provide funding for library programs and materials.  Anyone who is interested in helping set up for the sale on Friday or work the sale on Saturday, please leave your name and phone number with the library staff. Coming SoonThe Friends of the Library will be having a book, video, and CD sale on Saturday, June 15, 10 am - 3 pm. We encourage everyone to come and buy lots of stuff! All proceeds help provide funding for library programs and materials. If you have any books, CDs or DVDs that are clean and in good condition, please donate them to the Friends for the sale. Amazing Tool for Readers and Teachers

Novelist PlusIf you’ve never used the NoveList Plus database, you’re missing out on an amazing tool.  The #1 thing that I use NoveList for is to find out the order of books in a series or the order of books written by an author.  Also, when I look up a book I liked in NoveList, it automatically displays book recommendations on the right side of the page.  You can also use the “Read-Alikes” link on the right side of the home page to look up an author and find out which other authors write similar books.  I have also used

Get Caught Reading Month

Get CaughtMay is “Get Caught Reading Month,” a nationwide campaign supported by the Association of American Publishers to remind people of all ages how much fun it is to read. Remember, home and school aren’t the only places you can read.  You could get caught reading on your lunch break, in the waiting room at the doctor’s or dentist’s office, on a Metro bus, on an airplane or just about any place.  No matter where you read, what your read, or whether you prefer paper, electronic, or audio books, your library has you covered!
