Beginner Email Class / Clases de Correo Electrónico para Principiantes

Computer helpWe see a lot of people at the library applying for jobs online. It seems like every online job application requires an email address.  Doctor’s offices, insurance companies, and utility companies also ask for email addresses so that they can communicate with customers. If you still don’t have an email address and you think you might need one, you are invited to attend one of our basic-level email classes next week. There will be one on Monday, March 20, 5:00-7:00 pm, in Spanish and one on Tuesday, March 21, 5:00-7:00 pm, in both English and Spanish.

Easy Volunteer Project!

Volunteers neededWhether you’re a student who needs volunteer hours or an adult who has some spare time, we could really use your help the week of March 13-18.  Three weeks per year, we have to count every person that walks in our front door.  It’s really difficult to watch the door and serve our customers at the same time.  So, we would love to have some volunteers to just sit where they can see the door and make marks on a tally sheet whenever someone walks in.  It’s easy for you and extremely helpful to us.  If you’re interested in helping, just let a staff member know what days of the week and hours of the day you will come.  The staff would really appreciate you!

Black History Movie of the Week

Please join us this Friday, February 24, from 2:30-4:30 pm, for this week’s Black History movie. On December 1, 1955, a brave Alabama woman refused to give up her seat on a city bus and was arrested as a result. In response, for over 12 months, the local African-American population refused to use the city bus system. Come and witness the events that brought Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to the forefront of the American Civil Rights movement.
