Summer Reading and Kids Café

Food bankThere are two big things that happen at your neighborhood library only during the summer. One is free lunch for children age 18 and under from the Houston Food Bank. The lunches are served Monday-Friday at 1:00 pm, while supplies last.
The other is our Summer Reading Program. Leaving/Recovering from Abusive Relationships

Dorrisia-croppedA member of our community, motivational speaker Dorrisia Taylor, has volunteered to give a presentation on Saturday, April 13, at 10:30 am about abusive relationships. This, I Deserve! is a dynamic presentation designed to help people recognize signs of abuse in a relationship and to help both people currently in abusive relationships and survivors of abuse to recognize and use their inner-strength. This talk is appropriate for teens and for adults of all ages. It will cover a range of topics including identifying what you deserve, acknowledging your own worth and re-evaluating your perceptions.

Games 2Do you get tired of sitting at home watching crummy TV shows? Get out of the house! Research shows you’re healthier and live longer if you socialize. So, come on over to the library and hang out with other grownups the last Wednesday of every month at 1 pm. You can chat while playing card games, domino games, or board games or working on a jigsaw puzzle. We hope to see you March 27!
