Meet Denise Bossarte

The Secret Garden Photography Art show, featuring the plant life of Mercer Arboretum,  is in its final days.  It will be on display until November 20th for you to enjoy.  Here is one of our featured artists, Denise Bossarte.  She has provided several of her photographs for the show.  One of them is called Watch Your Fingers.  She has a wonderful variety of beautiful photographs for you to enjoy.  So come take a look while they are here on display.

Teens Bake!

We had a great time baking and chowing down on strawberry shortcakes last Saturday! Teens learned how to make these delicious desserts from scratch. Did you miss it? Here's the easy to follow recipe, complete with tips and baking techniques so that making this dessert is a piece of CAKE:

Help From a Scout

Eagle Scout Erik Scott is coordinating a book and art supplies drive and a special Saturday book sale to help raise money for the Baldwin Boettcher Branch Friends of the Library. For this drive they are looking for new and gently used books, construction paper, colored pens and pencils, acrylic paint, canvas pads, googly eyes, glue sticks, glitter, kinetic sand, stickers, pom poms, brushes, and basic art supplies such as crayons, paper, and pencils.

You can donate art supplies directly to the library in the drop box in the lobby until Sat, Sept 27th. The library takes book donations year-round.

Are You Interested in Self Publishing?

Have a manuscript you don't know what to do with? Have you thought about self publishing but don't know where to start? Come to our Self Publishing Information Session on Monday, September 21 at 6 pm. This program will introduce you to the world of self publishing, both ebooks and print books. This hour and a half introduction to self publishing will have a strong focus on Amazon's publishing platform. All methods covered in this session are free; we will only explore the no-cost options to publish your work. Masters of Suspense Book Club meets the second Monday of every month. September's meeting will be on the 14th at 6:30 pm and the featured book is Martha Grimes' Vertigo 42.

History Lover's Book Club meets on Friday, Sept 18 at 2 pm. We will be discussing Oscar Hijuelos' Beautiful Maria of My Soul.
