Vietnam War Programming Continues

We would like to say a big thank you to Albert Nahas (pictured right), author of Warriors Remembered, for speaking at Octavia Fields Branch Library in support of our Vietnam War programming. We would also like to say a big  thank you to the teens at Jacinto City for their youth-led discussion on the war. Next week, the programming will make its way to the Fairbanks Branch Library where Samuel Axelrad will talk about his book Peaceful Bones. This is his story of an encounter with a seriously wounded North Vietnamese army squadron leader and the actions he took to save his life. The program will take place on Tues, Nov 7th from 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm. There will be copies available to purchase and have signed by Dr. Axelrad. To register, please call 713-466-4438.

This programming is in support of the PBS airing of The Vietnam War. This is a ten-part,18-hour documentary film series directed by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick.

Meet Natalie Youngberg and her son, Milan Youngberg. Two separate drawings to find winners for our gift-wrapped Valentine's books pulled this mother and son from the bunch.
