A Rhyme and Reason

Did you know that April is National Poetry Month? Inaugurated by the Academy of American Poets in 1996, National Poetry Month is the largest literary celebration in the world.  The Aldine Library will be celebrating poetry’s vital place in our culture throughout the month. We will be reading poems over the library loud speaker to expose everyone in the library to our collection. Get ready to hear some good poetry!

The Big Spring Clean

Ah, spring time. Warmer temps, Spring Break, and cleaning! Here at Aldine we are having our annual Library Spring Cleanup Day on the morning of Wednesday, March 11th from 9:30 am - 12 pm. We are seeking volunteers from the community who will help us prepare for the summer by dusting, wiping down tables, picking up litter, and performing general housekeeping duties. If you can join us and help out call the library at (281) 445-5560.

Chile Limón Wins!

On Wednesday, February 18th, the Aldine Library celebrated Black History Month and African American potato chip inventor George Crum by sampling different potato chip varieties. Children and adults alike enjoyed eating chips while hearing about the life and work of Mr. Crum. Then, we passed out ballots and patrons voted on their favorite potato chip flavor. The variety with the most votes- the official Aldine Library potato chip- is Chile Limón!

Chip Appeal

Come to the Aldine Library to celebrate Black History Month and African American potato chip inventor George Crum! Join us on Wednesday, February 18th at 4 PM as we honor the life of Mr. Crum by sampling different potato chips. Yum! You will be able to vote on your favorite. We are glad to offer this new computer class at a more convenient hour for people to take advantage of it.
