Starry Day, Starry Night at Aldine Library

Friday, June 17th at 2 PM was supposed to be an hour of magic at Aldine Library with none other than Ronald McDonald. Ronald was not able to make it. In his place, creative magic unfolded at Aldine in the form of beautiful chalk illustrations done by children in the style of Vincent van Gogh's Starry Night. It was a time of great family fun. The chalk drawings are now on display in the children's section of the library. Come by, take a look, and enjoy the night skies.

The Aldine Library's Asian Pacific American Heritage Month event that was held on Wednesday, May 25th at 6:30 PM was a smash hit. Ms. Erin Hong, owner and operator of Houston's Charm Chinese School, gave a presentation to children and adults about Asian culture and geography. In addition, she spoke about the history of Chinese people in the United States. Then, Ms. Hong taught the meaning of several different Chinese characters. Children practiced writing the characters with crayons. At the end of the presentation, Ms. Hong quizzed children on the characters and their meaning.
