Finding Bigfoot

Does Bigfoot exist? Skeptics will be given all the information they need to decide for themselves in a brand new book titled Finding Bigfoot: Everything You Need to Know by Martha Brockenbrough. Did you know that in Skamania County, Washington, an ordinance passed in 1969 that makes it illegal to kill a bigfoot.? "Anyone who hunted bigfoot and committed a 'willfull and wanton slaying' could be convicted of a felony, fined up to $10,000, and sent to jail for up to five years. The law was softened a bit in 1984. Now, bigfoot hunting is a gross misdemeanor punishable with a $1,000 fine and up to a year in the clink" writes Brockenbrough. Resolutions, Resolutions, and, Oh, Resolutions

Happy New Year, everyone! With a new year comes new resolutions, right? The Aldine Library is here to help you meet and keep your resolutions. We are kicking off the new year with a collection of self-help books in our display case to help make a better you! Titles on weight loss, exercise, self-esteem, and just plain being happy are there. Stop by and take a look. On the lighter side, we have a Winnie the Pooh DVD available for checkout. In the story, Rabbit's pals in the Hundred Acre Wood make misguided resolutions to change with some hilarious and heartfelt results. Happy 2014!

Holiday Hours at Aldine Library

Next week is Christmas! The Aldine Library will be closing early (at 5 PM) on Monday, December 23rd. We will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday (December 24th and 25th). We will open again on Thursday, December 26th at 10 am. Have a safe and happy holiday!

It's Beginning to Look Alot Like Christmas @ Aldine

When you walk into the Aldine Library, a Christmas tree with greets you in the children's section. Poinsettas adorn the checkout counter. We hope these decorations- together with our Christmas-themed books, DVDs, and CDs- brighten your day. Happy Holidays from the Aldine Library.

Great Deals @ Aldine

The astronomical winter (Northern Hemisphere) 2013 begins on Saturday, December 21st. However, winter weather has already rived in Houston. Why not take a break from the cold and come on in the Aldine Library? Got some Christmas shopping to do? Take a look at our book sale going on in the library right next to the checkout counter. There are some real deals going on. Magazines are just .25 cents each. Paperbacks are just .50 cents and hardbacks and CD's are only $1.00. DVD's are only $2.00 each. All of our items for sale have been donated by the public. All proceeds from sales go towards the Friends of the Aldine Library. With such a variety of titles to choose from you are sure to find something for that certain someone who is hard to shop for.

Happy Thanksgiving from the the staff of the Aldine Library!  We hope you enjoy your holiday. Tomorrow, Wednesday 11/27, the Aldine Library has a special, holiday schedule. We will open at 1 PM and close at 5 PM. Then, the library will be closed Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, November 28th-30th, 2013. We will open again on Monday, December 2nd at 1 PM. We hope you enjoy your holiday and look forward to seeing you after the break.

 

Health Care Application Assistance @ Aldine

On Thursday, December 5th, 2013, Cognosante,a healthcare information technology company, will be at the Aldine Library to assist the public in applying for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act. Individuals may stop by the Meeting Room from 1-4 PM to have questions answered or to get help filling out the the online application at  https://www.healthcare.gov/.

Precinct 1 @ Aldine Library

The Harris County Precinct 1 Traveling Naturalist Program came to the Aldine Library's Bilingual Storytime on Thursday, November 8th, 2013. The children enjoyed getting to meet some furry friends.

Happy Halloween from Aldine Library

The Aldine Library had a pumpkin carving party on Saturday, October 26th, 2013 for children and tweens. Everyone enjoyed carving and getting their pumpkins ready for All Hallow's Eve. The Aldine Library wishes you a safe and fun Halloween!
