Two Kids on a Bench

Have you seen the nice bench outside of the library with statues of the two young children reading a book? This bench is a gift of the Kingwood Garden Club. The ribbon cutting ceremony and dedication of the bench took place this afternoon. Kingwood Library staff members were in attendance including Branch Manager Ryan Fennell as well as members of the garden club. Thanks to the Kingwood Garden Club for their gift and for their continuous work to beautify the Kingwood Library.

On Saturday, September 24th, the Aldine Independent School District's Curriculum & Instruction Department was at the Aldine Library from 10:30 AM-11:30 PM. Why? To read, facilitate, and monitor a special Literacy and Art program! Children in attendance were read the Adventures of Tacky the Penguin. After the reading, kids participated in an art-making activity inspired by the book. A number of children received their very own copy of the chosen book of the day for their personal libraries. Weren't able to make it last weekend? Not to worry. AISD will return on October 29th and November 12th, 2016, to read The Day the Crayons Quit and Charlie Piechart. Kids, come to the remaining two events. Build your literacy skills while having fun!
