Seek and ye shall find...

Have you been looking for a book and not been able to find it in our HCPL catalog? Was it published at least 6 months ago? Maybe we can help you find it through our Interlibrary Loan system.  Books can be ordered from lending libraries from all over the country. Some lending libraries have books that are out of print and old editions that are hard to find. If this interests you click on the above link and read all about it. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to call us. We are ready to serve you.

Come One, Come All...

Is your New Year off to a good start? Did you get an e-reader for Christmas?  Have you been cleaning out the house and now you are trying to get rid of some books? If so, donate them to the library for the upcoming book sale being held this Saturday, January 12, 2013.

OR, if you still love how a book feels in your hands, come to the book sale and buy as many as you can carry. There has been a change in some of the pricing so don’t be surprised if things are a little more valuable than they used to be.  However, you will still find some great bargains. There are books, magazines, audiobooks, videos and DVD's. All proceeds go to help fund library activities and programs here at the Maud Marks Library. So, come one come all...Saturday, January 12, 2013, from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Santa's Gift Shop and Family Film Festival

The Friends of the Maud Marks Library is sponsoring Santa’s Gift Shop. Gently used books have been packaged together for gift-giving for the holidays. Come in and select a gift for an avid reader. There are mysteries, romances, biographies and more.

The library will be closed Saturday, Dec. 22 through Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012.  We will reopen on Wednesday, Dec. 26.  Each weekday for the rest of the month, a family movie will be shown at 2:00 pm. Bring the family for a fun movie and popcorn.  Call the library at 281-492-8592 for more details.

Are You an e-Reader?

Are you planning on buying an e-reading device for yourself or as a gift? Do you already have an e-reading device and just not sure how to download free books from the library? There are still openings for the E-Reader Class on Tuesday, November 20th from 2-4 pm.  Registration is necessary, so do not wait.  Another class will not be available until next year.

Do you know how to “Zentangle”?

On Saturday, Nov. 10 at 2 PM there will be a Zentangle Demonstration at the Maud Marks Library. What is Zentangle, you ask?  Come and learn a fun and easy art form; a way to create beautifully structured and patterned black and white abstract images. Some believe it’s so relaxing it’s like meditation. This class is for young adults and adults of all ages.

School is back in session, but don’t let the traffic get to you. Harris County Public Library has a great listening selection.   Go to our website to find your favorite authors on CD, come in and check it out, or download it to your listening device.  These can help make your commute more enjoyable and less stressful.
