Story Time Break at Katy Branch Library

The Katy Library Baby Time, Toddler Time and Preschool Storytime will have a two week hiatus as we prepare for all the fun things we have planned for this summer.  We will return Monday, June 3, 2019 with Baby Time at 10:30am.  Be sure and check our online calendar for other fun programs we have planned for this summer!

Volunteer at Katy Library

Katy Library will be accepting applications for teen summer volunteers beginning May 3, 2019 until May 24, 2019. Applications are available at the Katy Library. All volunteers must be in high school or going into high school.  Space in the program is limited and due to high interest, there will be a lottery to determine placement in the volunteer program.  All volunteers MUST attend a MANDATORY training session Wednesday, May 29, 2019, from 10:00am- 12:00pm.

Katy ISD Folk Life Festival

Interested in what life was like in the late 1800's for pioneers of early Texas?  The 34th Annual Katy Folk Life Festival has your answers!  There will be demonstrations of blacksmithing, soap-making, pioneer soldier re-enactments and much more.  The festival takes place at The Outdoor Learning Center, 6301 South Stadium Lane, Katy, Texas 77494, from 9:00am - 3:00pm. Baby Time at Katy Library

Starting April 1st, Baby Time will be held at 10:30am.  Bring your little ones, from birth to 18 months, to our baby storytime and participate in songs, rhymes, fingerplays and social time with other little ones.

Songs of Peace - Sagit Zilberman

Dance to, sing along with, and experience traditional music from cultures across the world! International jazz multi-instrumentalist and composer Sagit Zilberman performs and facilitates “Songs of Peace,” an interactive global music workshop for families and children. This workshop introduces children to instruments such as the didgeridoo, space drum, and other percussion instruments and empowers them to use both their own voices and instruments to play and create music with others. - Sagit Zilberman

Citizenship Classes

Katy Branch Library is offering free citizenship classes on Wednesdays at 4:30pm and Thursdays at 11:00am.  These classes will cover everything you need to know to pass the exam.  Applications are available at the library. Little Buddies needed for Spring Book Buddies session

It's time to sign up your little ones for our Book Buddies program!

Book Buddies is a free program that brings children and adults together to share the joy of reading. It pairs trained adult volunteers (Big Buddies) with children in K-3rd grades (Little Buddies.) For 10 weeks, the Buddies meet once a week for 45 minutes of shared reading.

Our meetings will be Mondays at 5:00pm. The dates for the program are 1/28, 2/4, 2/11, 2/18, 2/25, 3/4, 3/18, 3/25, 4/1, and 4/8.

Storytime takes a Holiday Break

There will be no story times offered at the Katy Library during the holiday break.  We will resume our regular story time schedule with Baby Time on January 7, 2018 at 10:15am.

 

 

Our regular story time hours are as follows:

Baby Time (birth-18months)          Mondays, 10:15am

Toddler Time (18months - 3yrs)    Tuesdays, 10:30am

Preschool Story Time (3-5yrs)      Thursdays, 10:30am

Santa Storytime

We will have a visitor at the Katy Library on December 18, 2018!  Join us for our Santa Storytime at 10:30am.  We will read Christmas stories and your little ones will have a chance to visit and take pictures with Santa Claus!  

Pages by the Pint December Book Club

 Pages by the Pint Book Club will take place at No Label Brewery on Tuesday, December 18th at 8:00pm as we discuss "Let's Pretend This Never Happened" by Jenny Lawson. Join us for beer, books, and bonding.  Outside food and           non-alcoholic drinks are welcome. See you then!
