END OF SEMESTER PAPERS

There are just a few more weeks of school left in this semester. You know what that means.....end of semester papers. Rest easy, HCPL has a terrific database which will give you plenty of references for those position papers. The Opposing Viewpoints in Context database covers a host of social issues like cybercrime, food safety, and medical ethics to name just a few. Use your library card to log in and use this valuable source.

TEEN CRAFT EGGSHELL PENDANT

Teens and Tweens join us Wednesday, April 20 at 4:00pm for a fun craft time. You will be using dyed eggshells to make a unique mosaic pendant. All materials are provided. Just bring yourself and your creativity.

AFTERSCHOOL SCIENCE TIME

Join Mr. D. and Ms. Mandy for another Afterschool Science Time, Wednesday, March 30 at 3:15 pm. They will be exploring the invisible world of UV rays. You know those rays that end up giving you a tan or a sunburn. Come learn more about them and have fun too.

AFTERCHOOL GAME TIME

Hey kids! Join us Wednesday, March 23  @ 3:15 for Afterschool Game Time. You and your friends can play a selection of board games and find out who can dominate with the roll of the dice instead of a handheld controller. All are welcome to try their hand at checkers, chess, Monopoly or many more games.

TEXAS GOES HOLLYWOOD

March is Texas History Month. In honor of our great state we have a unique display presented by J. Mark Stamps from his collection of memorabilia. These are lobby posters depicting movies with Texas towns in the titles. Lobby posters were handed out in the golden age of the movie house to publicize movies. So stop by and look at these gems of a bygone era.

Celebrate Read Across America Day with The Cat in the Hat, as he reads one of his favorite Dr. Seuss stories during Preschool Story Time! Join us Tuesday, March 1 @ 10:15 am for some Green Eggs and Ham.

SELF CHECK COMES TO LA PORTE COMMUNITY LIBRARY

Are you sometimes in a rush to grab a book and head out the door? Then you will be pleased to hear that La Porte Community Library now has two Self-Check stations which will allow you to scan your own items. There will always be our friendly circulation staff on hand to help you whether on self-check or at the full service line. Come on in and try out our new "toy."

VALENTINE DOUGH HEART TEEN CRAFT

Hey teens and tweens join us Wednesday, February 9 at 4:00pm for another fun craft time. You will be making salt dough hearts for Valentine's Day. They make a great little present for someone special.
