Change to Wednesday Wonders

Starting tomorrow, Wednesday Wonders will be a ticketed program.  This is a program for elementary students ages 6-11.  We spend the hour exploring the world through STEAM, science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.  There is a different activity each week.  Come tickets will be available at 4:30 for our 4:45 PM program.  Tickets will be given to the first 25 elementary students.  There will be no admittance after 5 PM.

Winter is Coming! Is Your Garden Ready?

Yes, it might be 90 degrees outside but my calendar says that winter is indeed on it's way.  Make sure your garden is ready!  Harris County Master Gardeners will be here one more time this year as we discuss plant propagation and seed saving.  Come this Saturday at 10 AM to Maud Marks and make sure you know how to save and multiply your favorite plants and prepare to have an even better garden come spring!

And don't worry, we are only taking a 2 month break.  Master Gardeners will be back at the Maud Marks Library on the 3rd Saturday of every month starting in January.

Seating for this and most programs is limited.  Click here to sign up for this event.

What Happened to My iPad?!

IOS9 came out recently and everything on my iPad changed!  Did that happen to you too?

Never fear though, at Maud Marks we can help you with that!  Come to the library on Tuesday, September 29 at 10 AM for our class, Introduction to the Apple iPad.  Come get all your questions answered!  Learn how to get the most of your Apple device.

Then, at 1 PM come back as we Get Started With Apps.  Learn which apps are must haves to keep your life organized, efficient, productive, and fun.

Remember, most classes have limited seating.  Click here to register for these classes and see what else we have coming up in the future.

Don't Panic, We're Not REALLY Closed!

OK, so the library has closed its physical doors Sunday and Monday, but you have your first major paper due on Tuesday!  What are you going to do?!  Worry not, the library has you covered.  Check out our databases for all your research or studying needs.  Our Digital Media Catalog provides even more books to supplement your research.  Want to relax instead?  Check out our vast collection of movies and TV shows through Hoopla.  What ever you want to do this weekend, we have you covered!

Ace the Test!

So, how are you preparing for the most important exam you will ever take?  At the Maud Marks Library, we have an idea!  On Saturday, at 10:15 AM, Kaplan will be here to give a mock exam to all interested high school and even upper junior high students.  It will be the real exam given under real exam conditions so you can get a real feel before the big day!  Sign up here to join us and don't forget to bring your #2 pencils, a calculator, and a snack.  (After all, you'll be here for 4 whole hours and will want to keep up your energy levels.)  See you Saturday!

We Never REALLY Close

OK, so our physical site is going to be closed this week, Friday through Sunday for the holiday weekend.  Never fear though because our online branch is open 24/7!

Check Out Something Mysterious at the Library

It's summer again, and that means the Maud Marks Summer Genre Challenge.  Read 5 books in 5 different genres, for an entry to the drawing for our grand prize gift basket.  This basket includes various books, movies, a Kindle Fire, Alamo Drafthouse movie tickets & food vouchers, and a $25 Katy Budget Books gift certificate.  Wow!

Exercise That Mouse Hand!

It's time for Mouserobics!  Come to Maud Marks next Tuesday, June 9 at 1 PM.  We will spend the class learning proper mousing techniques including how to hold the mouse, clicking and double clicking, scrolling, highlighting, and more.  Learn to use the most important input device in modern times.

Makerspace, What is THAT?!

Have you heard of the new movement that is sweeping the country?  There is a new way to promote STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) through Makerspace.  Makerspaces are popping up all over the country and we have one right here in Katy.
