Reach Out and Connect With Someone

Have you always wondered what happened to that best friend from first grade?  Would you like to find them?  Come to the library on Tuesday at 1 PM for a one time class on the social networking site, Facebook.  We will teach you how to set up an account and ensure your own privacy as well as getting back in touch with old friends at the same time.  We don't have much room in this class so sign up now by clicking here.  Don't forget to check out all the other great programs and classes the library is offering this month.  We have something for everyone!

Take the Maud Marks Adult Summer Reading Genre Challege!

Yes, that's right, the summer reading program is no longer just for kids.  At the Maud Marks Library, we have all kinds of prizes for adults to win!

Here's how it works:

1. Register online for the adult summer reading program.

2. Stop by the Maud Marks Library to pick up a "Get a Clue" LBI (Library Books Investigations) card.

3. Read (or listen to) one book in five of the eight eligible categories (romance, western, mystery, fantasy, horror, science-fiction, fiction, and non-fiction).

4. Give your completed LBI card to a librarian to enter in the drawing for one of our movie posters and our grand-prize crimefighting toolkit.

5. Receive a certificate for a free book at our Friends of the Maud Marks Library book sale.

Let's Beat the Heat! Without Breaking the Bank.

OK, I don't know about you but my electric bill is already climbing, and May just started.  Wow!  It is hot outside!  Can you just imagine what it's going to be like in August.  Ugh!  Who can afford the air conditioning bill?!

Guess what, at the Maud Marks Library, we have the answer to your electric needs.  Next Tuesday, May 15 at 7 PM we will have some one here to show you simple ways to cut your energy costs this summer.  Whether it's raising the temperature in your house by one degree or changing out your light bulbs learn what you can do to save money this summer without breaking a sweat.

Yea-haw!!!! It's time to Celebrate Us!

Hey Ya'll!  It's time to celebrate bein' Texan!  Ya'll gotta come by the Maud Marks Library on Saturday, March 3 from 1-4 to celebrate our Texan Heritage.  Chow down at our chuckwagon or kettle corn out front, or come inside and join the festivities there.  We'll have crafts of all kinds.  Learn to write your name with a quill pen.  Meet Sam Houston and Davy Crockett.  Watch out for the sheriff though; he might just gitcha and throw you in jail!  We'll have music and dancin' too.  Plus, if you're there at 1 PM, you can hear Texas Bob talk all about... you guessed it, Texas!

Calling All Teens!!!!

Are you ready to take the SAT?  How do you think you would do if you had to take that all important test tomorrow?  Find out today!  Join us on Saturday at 10:15 AM as Kaplan gives students a practice SAT in real testing conditions.  Then next week at  2 PM the tests will be returned and students will be given a strategy session where they will learn tips and trick for improving their scores.  Join us as we prepare for the most important exam you will ever take!  Seating for this program is limited.  Please click here to register for this all important program.  Students taking the practice SAT are taking the full SAT and will be in the room until 2:15 PM.  Please bring #2 pencils, a calculator, and a snack to the exam

Ready to Get Healthy?

Are you ready to get healthy this year?  Trying to figure out how? We have a program for you!  This Tuesday at 1 PM, the Maud Marks Library will host our next Senior Moments, a program series designed specifically for seniors and mature adults.  This month, Dr. Christopher Freytag will be joining us to discuss how you can lengthen your life through healthy living.  We'll be talking about healthy eating, exercises, and more.  Seating for this and most programs at the library is limited.  Please click here to sign up for this and other events at your local library.

It's the New Year!  With the New Year comes all the New Year resolutions.  Are you determined to keep yours this year?  The Maud Marks Library can help you with that.  We have 2, that's right, count 'em TWO programs to help you start the New Year out on the right foot. 

Are you looking at that mess in your study and deciding that this is the year you are going to be able to find stuff?  We will be hosting an organization seminar on Saturday, January 7 at 1 PM.  Learn how long you need to keep documents and even where to start on that mess currently piled up to the ceiling.

SANTA IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    Once school lets out today, head over to the library for some holiday fun.  We will be celebrating our annual Santa's Ranch today from 1-4 PM.  We will have singers and a brass band, pony rides, crafts, and more!  Come get you holiday spirit painted all over your face.  And of course the big guy will be visiting with us the entire time.  Tell him what you want this year as you have your picture taken.   Mrs. Claus has even taken time out of her busy schedule to join us.  HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
