Toddler Costume Parade on Tuesday, October 25 and Monday, October 31!

  Toddlers can show off their Halloween costume this Tuesday, October 25 at 10:15 am and 11:15 am and next Monday, October 31 at 11:15 am.   This storytime program is designed for children 18 months to 3 years old.  In addition to stories and songs, we will have a costume parade.  The children will be able to go to several stations in the Children's Department to pick up treats.

Tickets are required for these programs.  They are free and available at the Kids Information desk starting at 10:00 am for the 10:15 am programs and 10:45 for the 11:15 programs.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for their support of these programs.
  

 

Baby Playtime returns on Friday, October 21 @ 10:00 am

Babies from infants through 18 months old will have fun this Friday,October 21 at 10:00 am during Baby Playtime.  This monthly program features toys, music, board books, and bubbles!   To add a festive touch this month,  children can make a fun "ghost" picture with their footprint.  No tickets are needed for this program that gives parents and their babies a chance to play with other young ones.   Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for their generous support of the many amazing toys and books used in this program.

Several Children's Programs coming up later this week!

Here are some upcoming programs in the Children's Department:  Thursday, October 13 @ 4:30 pm, children 3-12 years old can get ready for fall/Halloween decorating by making a cute bat and designing a couple of fun buttons to wear; Thursday, October 13 @ 6 pm, children can wear their pajamas or bring a stuffed animal friend to Pajama Storytime; and Tweens 8-12 years old can create an amazing mask on Friday, October 14 @ 2:00 pm.  All these programs require tickets.  They are free and available in the Children's Department starting 30 minutes before the program.

The Children's Department celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month on Thursday, October 6 @ 4:30 pm

  Children are invited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at Freeman Library on this Thursday, October 6 at 4:30 pm.   We will have crafts, music, and food.   This program requires tickets.  They are free and available in the Children's Department starting 30 minutes before the program.

October Events in the Children's Department

Here are a few of the fun events we have planned for October in the Children's Department. 

Family Storytime - Saturdays, October 1 and October 15 at 11:00 am.  This storytime for the whole family meets in the Children's Department and requires no tickets.


Bilingual Chinese/English Storytime - Monday, October 3 at 10:15 am.  This brand-new program will feature stories and songs in Chinese and English.  Tickets will be given out at 10:00 am when we open.  This program is recommended for children aged 2 and older.


Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration - Join us on Thursday, October 6 at 4:30 for crafts, music, and food from Hispanic countries.  Tickets will be given out at 4:00 pm.

Baby Playtime returns on Friday morning, September 23 at 10:00 am.  This fun program is for babies from infants up to 18 months old and their caregiver.   It features books, music, toys, and bubbles.  We also will be doing a fun art project.   No tickets are needed for this program.   

Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for funding many of the toys and books used in the program.

Family Storytime this Saturday, September 17 @ 11:00 am

Join us this Saturday morning for Family Storytime at 11:00 am.  We'll have great stories and fun songs for young children and their whole family.  No tickets are needed for this program.  We'll meet at the couch area in the Children's Department.   Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for their support with this program and many others.  

This storytime meets on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month.  Our next one will be Saturday, October 1 at 11:00 am.

Fall Crafts on Thursday, September 15 @ 4:30 pm

Children 3-12 years old can start preparing for fall fun by making leaf crafts on Thursday, September 15 at 4:30 pm.   We'll be making leaf people, a leaf wreath, and a pretzel tree.  Tickets are needed for this program. They are free and available in the Children's Department starting 30 minutes before the program.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for their support of this program and others at Freeman.

Maker Monday Returns on Monday, September 12 @4:30 pm

Children 5-12 years old will enjoy the return of the weekly afterschool program Maker Monday this Monday, September 12 at 4:30 pm.   This program runs throughout the school year and features a variety of activities and crafts.   This Monday, the children will make marble runs out of wrapping paper tubes and water bottles to see how the marbles run through their courses. 

The other September programs include a Lego Free Play on September 19th and a pinecone apple craft on the 26th.   Tickets are required for these programs.  They are free and available from the Kids Information Desk starting 30 minutes before the program.

 

LEGO Robotics Camp returns in October for children 7-11 years old

The LEGO Robotics Camp returns for four Saturdays in October - 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th.  This free, indoor camp for children 7-11 years old features math, science, and engineering concepts along with a dose of patience and cooperation.  It is led each week by a teacher who introduces the children to the concepts they'll see as they work to put together projects using the LEGO WeDo program and laptops.
