The teens at the Aldine Branch won the online voting portion of the Story Tubes contest for their book trailer for The Missing Girl by Norma Fox Mazer. Out of all the videos submitted, theirs was voted the best by the viewers. Way to go!
Teens, come enjoy Black History Month with the Aldine Branch. On Monday, February 6th, at 4pm the branch will be examining Web sites dedicated to those who have helped shape this country’s rich identity. We’ll see you in the meeting room to explore some really great sites.
As promised, we have the first in a series of digital stories created by the teens of the Aldine Branch. The kids should be given much kudos for their hard work. They have taken time out of their busy schedules to flex their creative muscles for the community and it has paid off. Previously, we shared that teens at the Aldine Branch Library were hard at work on their digital storytelling projects. Their efforts have really paid off and soon they will be ready to share their pieces. The first in the series is expected to be posted in the next couple weeks, so make sure you come back to checkout some really great stories.
As you know, the teens of the Aldine Branch Library have been hard at work on many projects. Along with creating digital stories and decorating the Young Adult area of the library, they also became semi-finalists for a national contest sponsored by IdeaPaint! How great is that?!
Watch the video the teens made and cast your vote for the Harris County Public Library. You can vote once a day until December 4th, so don’t wait.

It’s that time of year again. It’s time for the Young Naturalist Awards contest, from the American Museum of Natural History. The science competition is for students in grades 7-12. The contest is perfect for those teens who enjoy learning about the world around them. Plus, the winners are provided with a chance of a lifetime!
There’s no time to waste. Entries are due March 9, 2012. And for a new twist, digital entries will be accepted as well.
As you know the teens have been working hard on spicing things up in the Young Adult area of the Aldine Branch Library. After a few weeks of work they are getting close to unveiling their creations.
