A New Look Coming For the Aldine Branch

Teen CollagesTeens, the Young Adult area of the Aldine Branch Library is getting a bit of a makeover and here's a sneak peek of what to expect. Volunteers have been busy creating art to fill the area with some color. Installation will start this summer and will continue to grow throughout the year, so stop by anytime to witness the progress.

Aldine Branch Teens Recognized at MFAH

Teens With AwardsAs you know, the teens at the Aldine Branch library won the People's Choice Award in this year's HPL Reel Teen Film Festival. For winning, their book trailer was screened at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston last week for all to see. The teens also took questions from the audience. Check out Aldine's twitter feed to see how the night unfolded.

Also, just because it is summer don't assume the teens are taking time off. Be on the lookout for some other projects they have in the works!

Musician Donates Efforts to the Library System

Alan LeathermanMeet Alan Leatherman. Alan was raised in the Houston area and now finds himself dealing with the success of his debut album, Detour Ahead. Wanting to give back, Alan has donated copies of his CD to the Harris County Public Library’s collection. Alan is a former NFAA (National Foundation for Advancement in Arts) Awardee and went on to study at both Juilliard and New York University as a master candidate in Vocal Performance....

Aldine Teens Place in National Video Contest

Teens PosingThe teens at the Aldine Branch won the online voting portion of the Story Tubes contest for their book trailer for The Missing Girl by Norma Fox Mazer. Out of all the videos submitted, theirs was voted the best by the viewers. Way to go!

This Year's Digital Storytelling Comes to an End

Black History Month at Aldine: A Cyber Celebration

As promised, we have the first in a series of digital stories created by the teens of the Aldine Branch. The kids should be given much kudos for their hard work. They have taken time out of their busy schedules to flex their creative muscles for the community and it has paid off.
