Teen Craft & Pizza

Join us on Tuesday, August 20th, at 2:30PM for a teen craft (marble magnets).  Create miniature works of art and enjoy a few slices of pizza.  We will be drawing the name of the Teen SRP grand prize winner at this party.  This program is for ages 11-18.

Bike Rodeo Pictures

Bike RodeoWe had a great turnout for the Bike Rodeo at the Octavia Fields Library.  The Humble Police Department set up a fun course for riders.  Pictures from this event and other activities at the library can be seen here.  The Humble Observer was also on hand to take photos.  They can be seen here.  The Tribune has also posted a picture.

 

Bicycle Rodeo

bicycle rodeoJoin us at the Octavia Fields Branch Library on Thursday, July 25th @ 10:00 AM (that’s right, 10:00 AM in the morning) for a  “Bicycle Rodeo.”  Learn safety and bicycle skills taught by the Humble Police at the big parking lot behind the Civic Center.  You MUST bring your bicycle and helmet to participate. Then, we will have a “Rodeo” where you will use those new skills on an obstacle course. Let’s RODEO! YEE HAW!

Teddy Bear Picnic

Last Wednesday, the Parker Williams Branch Library held its first Teddy Bear Picnic during Preschool Storytime.  Children brought their favorite teddy bear (or other stuffed friend) and enjoyed  a teddy bear themed storytime, craft, and a special snack.  Books shared at this event included

Dr. Seuss' Birthday Celebration

Read Across America LogoMarch 1st is Read Across America Day.  This program, sponsored by the NEA, is a national celebration of reading.  It's also a time to celebrate the life and works of Dr. Seuss.  Join us at 4 pm for a Dr. Seuss birthday party.  There will be crafts and cupcakes for children of all ages.

Christmas Bulletin Board

The holidays are upon us and there's lots to do a see at the Parker Williams Branch Library in December.  Join us on Thursday, December 6th (4pm), for Movie Madness.  This family friendly Christmas movie is rated PG.  Please contact the library for the exact title.

Halloween Craft Party

Join us at 4PM on Friday, October 26th, for a Halloween Craft Party.  There will be treats and crafts for children of all ages.  Projects include paper plate ghosts, plastic lid monsters, spider Oreos, and zombie marshmallows.  All materials are provided.  Please contact the library, (281)484-2036, for more information. 

Teen SRP Winner

 

Congratulations to Bethany C., winner of the first Teen SRP drawing at the Parker Williams Branch Library.  Bethany  won a copy of The Hunger Games.  There are two more drawings this summer.   The July 18th drawing is for another copy of The Hunger Games and the drawing  on August 15th is for the complete Hunger Games Trilogy.  Winners are selected by random drawing from all teens (ages 12 -18) registered for the Teen Summer Reading Program at Parker Williams Branch Library.

Black Light Puppet Show

Jean Kuecher Black Light Puppet Show

Join us at Parker Williams Branch Library on Monday, June 18th, for a black light puppet show performed by Jean Kuecher (Marionette Playhouse).  Enjoy the stories of Swimmy, Three Billy Goats Gruff, Three Little Pigs, and The Mouse and the Lion.  The performance starts at 2:30pm.  Space is limited and free tickets are required.  Tickets are available at the reference desk on the day of the performance.  This program is recommended for ages 4 & up.
