Greater Houston Teen Book Convention

Alief ISD's Taylor High School is happy to invite teens and avid readers to TeenBookCon on Saturday, April 10th! TeenBookCon is geared towards connecting teen readers to authors and illustrators and allow teens to listen first-hand about the experiences of published authors and the writing industry! This is also a great opportunity for parents, librarians, teachers, and other teen literacy advocates to participate and encourage teens to read.

The convention will begin at 10:30am and runs until 4:00pm. Admission is free; however, bring money for food, books, and other merchandise. Check out the schedule for the full list of activities, panel discussions, and locations.

All-Time Classic Comics: Calvin and Hobbes

Just recently Bill Watterson, creator Calvin and Hobbes, was interviewed for the first time in 15 years. I have my brother to thank for my first exposure to comics with a copy of Calvin and Hobbes. You can read the Bill Watterson interview here.

Happy Birthday Frank Miller!

Today is author and illustrator Frank Miller's birthday! Many of you may recognize his stylized work in major motion films such as 300 or Sin City. He is most famous for his dark illustrations and his contributions to the Batman canon.
