Adult Crafternoon: Terrariums

TerrariumGet in the mood for Spring with Adult Crafternoon on Friday, March 14th at 2:30 PM! This month's meeting is all about terrariums. Create a small terrarium and personalize yours by painting small creatures, words, or whatever your heart desires.

Adult Crafternoon meets monthly on the 2nd Friday at 2:30 PM. It is free to attend and open to ages 18 and over. Supplies are provided courtesy of FOLK and are limited to 8 participants. Registration is not required; supplies are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Celebrate Will Eisner Week by reading a graphic novel

According to Comic Book Resources, the Will and Ann Eisner Family Foundation is celebrating its sixth Will Eisner Week, “an annual celebration promoting graphic novels, literacy, free speech awareness, and the legacy of Will Eisner” The year Will Eisner Week takes place between March 1st and 7th and always falls on the week of his birthday, March 6th.

Don't know how to celebrate? Simply celebrate by reading a graphic novel! Any graphic novel will do or read one of Mr. Eisner's works.

Fun4Seniors March Excursion Trips at Kingwood Branch Library

Kingwood Branch Library is continuing its partnership with Harris County Precinct 4's Senior Adult Program to offer  Fun4Seniors Excursion Trips for library customers in March 2014.

Adult Crafternoon: Inspirational Love Sign

Love SignLove is in the air and this week's Adult Crafternoon is no exception. On Friday, February 14th at 2:30 PM, adults are invited to make their own Love sign using wire and yarn. This program is free and limited to 8 adults.  All supplies are provided courtesy of Friends of the Library Kingwood and available on a first come, first serve basis.

Learn to capture quality photographs of local birds

This Saturday, February 8th, at 10:30 AM, participants will learn about taking quality photographs of birds, a perfect subject just in time for Spring. This program is free and open to individuals 18 and older. Registration is recommended as space is limited; walk-ins are welcome.

CANCELED: Fun4Seniors Excursion Trip to Lunar New Year Festival

We are sorry to announce that the Fun4Seniors trip scheduled for this Saturday, February 1st is canceled due to lack of registrations. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The following trip is still scheduled for February:

Tuesday, February 25th, 9:15 AM - 2:45 PM: African American Library--Gregory School. Celebrate Black History Month and visit the African American Library at the Gregory School in Houston's Fourth Ward. Cost is free and lunch on your own at Houston's This Is It soul food restaurant.

The start of the year always inspires me to try new titles and genres I may not be familiar with. I am a huge fan of recommended reads and love referencing GoodReads, a free social media site for book lovers, for new suggestions.

Each year GoodReads publishes the Choice Awards, lists of favorite titles by genre, including graphic novels and comics, voted for by GoodReads members.

Jump Start Your Space for Spring: a decluttering and decorating workshop

On Thursday, January 30, professional organizer, Ellen Delap, and Interior Designer, Leslie Sarmiento, share tips on de-cluttering and decorating your home in time for Spring.
