Learn to create your own Hummingbird Haven this Saturday at 1:00 PM

Hummingbird picture by Vickis Nature from FlickrRoughly 6.25 million Ruby-throated Hummingbirds will leave their breeding grounds in Canada and the United States and head south to their wintering grounds in Southern Mexico and Central America. Here in the Houston area we start seeing them in mid-July with their numbers peaking in September, with most having moved through by mid-October. A large number of these beautiful birds travel through Coastal Texas and upwards of 20,000+ visit the sugar feeders of Kathie Holder in Huffman TX. This migration is welcomed and anticipated by the community at large and all who enjoy nature-watching.
