September & October 2015 Fun4Seniors Trips departing from Kingwood Branch Library

Harris County Precinct 4's Senior Adult Program is offering the following Fun4Seniors Excursion Trips for library customers in September and October 2015. Participating is simple. Participants must be 50 years and better and must register for trips by calling 281-893-3726. All trips depart from and return to Kingwood Branch Library located at 4400 Bens View Lane, Kingwood TX 77339. Transportation is free and lunch is on your own. Some destinations require an admission fee.

This program is free and open to adults. No registration is required. Please bring your library card, your device(s) in question as well as its cable, and yourself!

Upcoming Workforce Solutions programs @ Kingwood Branch Library

Workforce Solutions is presenting two workshops at Kingwood Branch Library in September.

On Wednesday, September 2nd from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, attend Making Connections where you can learn about the "hidden" job market, utilizing social media, and making effective phone calls.

FamilySearch Open Lab this Friday @ 1:30 PM

GenealogyInterested in researching your ancestry but don't know where to start? Join us this Friday, August 21st at 1:30 PM for FamilySearch Open Lab and learn the basics. In this lab, attendants will get to create an account with FamilySearch, learn its features, and set up your profile. This program is presented by Harriet of Kingwood Texas Family History Center. One-on-one assistance will also be available. 

Learn to create your own Hummingbird Haven this Saturday at 1:00 PM

Hummingbird picture by Vickis Nature from FlickrRoughly 6.25 million Ruby-throated Hummingbirds will leave their breeding grounds in Canada and the United States and head south to their wintering grounds in Southern Mexico and Central America. Here in the Houston area we start seeing them in mid-July with their numbers peaking in September, with most having moved through by mid-October. A large number of these beautiful birds travel through Coastal Texas and upwards of 20,000+ visit the sugar feeders of Kathie Holder in Huffman TX. This migration is welcomed and anticipated by the community at large and all who enjoy nature-watching.
