2014 Maverick Graphic Novel List

Do you have a reluctant reader at home? If so, this list might be for you. Since 2010, the Texas Library Association publishes an annual graphic novel reading list, known as the Maverick Graphic Novels Reading List, comprised of titles chosen by public and school librarians that are meant to encourage reading for grades 6-12. Listed below are titles that were chosen unanimously by the committee. Holiday Floral Design Tips this Saturday!

Jupiterimages 2013Thanksgiving is only a couple of weeks away and you know what that means -- it's time to get into the holiday spirit! This Saturday, November 16, at 10:30 AM, Nancy of Kingwood Garden Club shares tips on making a Fall floral arrangement and how you can use readily available and natural materials to transform it for winter. Kingwood Branch Library welcomes Miss Kim

KimYou may have noticed a new face at our library. Please help us welcome our newest librarian, Miss Kim!

A Texas native, Kim is a budding librarian and works in the Adult Services department on the 2nd Floor. Kim is excited to join us and we are too! Like most of our staff, Kim is an avid reader. Her favorite author is J.K. Rowling and she is currently reading George R.R. Martin's Clash of Kings.

Harris County Precinct 4 hosts Harvest Moon Costume Dance

Halloween DancingHarris County Precinct 4's Senior Adult Program and Fun2Seniors invites community members 50 years and better to its Harvest Moon Costume Dance on Thursday, October 31st. The dance will be held at the Humble Civic Center located at 8233 Will Clayton Parkway. Doors open at 12:30 PM and the festivities will go on until 4:00 PM. Enjoy live music from the River Road Boys, dancing, light refreshments, and participate in a costume contest for a chance to win prizes!

What consumer education topic interests you?

Survey2014 is right around the corner and Kingwood Branch Library wants to help you start the new year on the right foot.

We are looking to bring the Better Business Bureau of Houston for a consumer education workshop in January and need your help choosing the topic. Topics include identity theft, investment fraud, and more.

If you are interested in consumer education and would like to vote on your preferred topic, please take our two-question survey. Don't wait long! The survey closes Friday, November 15th.
