Something for Everyone: Upcoming Computer Classes

Computer LabIf you haven't stopped by Kingwood Branch Library lately, you will be happy to know we've increased the number of computer classes with varying times and topics. Whether you're a beginner or need a refresher, we have something for everyone. Topics include but not limited to social media, tablets and eReaders, and more. The best part is that all of our classes are free. Registration is required as space is limited.

Weekend fun for all ages

Sushi by Flickr member cl_03Are you looking to beat the heat but want to get out of the house this weekend? If so, this Saturday we have two great programs open to all ages!

Back by popular demand, Sushi Club of Houston's Carl R. will show you how to make sushi rolls and share awesome facts about Japan. This program ties in with our Summer Reading Program, Have Book - Will Travel. So come learn to make your own sushi and if you're lucky, you might get to taste some too!

2013 Eisner Awards

If you are a fan of all things graphic novels, you should become familiar with the Will Eisner Awards. Will Eisner is considered the father of graphic novels, contributing to the comic book industry as early as the 1940s. Every year during Comic Con in San Diego, Eisner awards are given to graphic novel and comic books writers and illustrators for exceptional and creative works.

Fun Fitness for Adults at Kingwood Branch Library

Belly DancingAre the dog days of summer starting to get boring? Consider visiting the library in the upcoming weeks for fun and active programs for adults!

On Saturday, July 27th, from 11:15 AM - 12:15 PM, we will have a Zumba fitness class presented by Embody Fitness Center. This is a one time program so you won't want to miss out! Zumba is a cardio class that will get you moving to beats like salsa and hip hop.

Summer Makeup Tips at Kingwood Branch Library

MakeupThe summer heat and rays can take a toll on your skin; but wait, there is hope! On Thursday, July 18th, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, Beauty consultant Louisa O. will share tips on makeup and facial skin protection for the summer season. Louisa will give makeup demonstrations on volunteers if time permits. This program is free and open to the public. No registration is required. Kingwood Garden Center presents "Texas Gardening 101"

GardeningGardening in the gulf coast region can be a nuisance but it doesn't have to be. On Monday, July 15th, Kingwood Garden Center will present tips on Texas Gardening in the 1st Floor Meeting Room at 6:30 PM. Learn about best practices for each season.

While you're at the library, be sure to browse our enormous collection of gardening books on the 2nd Floor.

Keep calm and get craftyAre you a lone crafter looking for a social outlet and live in the Kingwood area? Be sure to stop by on Saturday, July 13th, between 11am to 2pm to meet other crafters in our community! Learn about local community groups who meet on occasion to gab and craft. See what projects they do, ask about membership, or learn how you can start your own group.

The Heritage Society presents "176 Years of Houston History"
