Zombie Awareness Month

Did you know that May is Zombie Awareness Month?  That it is a time to bring awareness about zombies and the possibility of a future zombie apocalypse?  If you did not, then you need to read some books about the walking dead and how to not become one.  Lurch on over to the library and check our display of zombie reading and get a leg up on how to avoid being undead and unread.

Jungle Books

If you are interested in animals that live in the jungle, then you want to check out one of the library's newest displays, "Jungle Books."  The display is a selection of picture books featuring stories that take place in the jungle and some of the animals that live there.  So, it's time to go on safari to the Fairbanks Branch and check out some books to take home and share with family and friends.  Happy Reading!

Comics & Graphic Novels

It is almost time for the school semester to end and that means that you can keep on reading but select some of the fun books you would like to read.  Some of those books may be comics and graphic novels, so the library has a special display of comics and graphic novels that are in the library collection.  Take a look on your next visit to the library and you may find some titles you will want to read when summer vacation starts--or read now, too!  Happy Reading!

Celebrating Mother's Day

This coming Sunday, May 8, is Mother's Day and I hope that you are planning to observe the day with a special celebration for your Mom.  To help you celebrate this special day, the library has a display of picture books featuring Moms that are appropriate for sharing with younger readers.  Please browse these titles on your next visit to the library and check out some of the books to read and share.  Happy Mother's Day and Happy Reading!

Reading About Bugs!

Some bugs you may like, some bugs you may not.  But whether yes or no, the fact that remains that bugs are everywhere.  If you want to learn more about different kinds of bugs, please browse one of our newest displays here at the library.  "Reading About Bugs" features books about bumblebees, butterflies, spiders, and many other types of bugs.  Take a look on your next visit to the library and check out some books and share what you learn with family and friends.  Happy Reading!

Celebrating Poetry

If, as the saying goes, "April showers bring May flowers," the month of April also brings time to celebrate the art of poetry.  To give yourself and family and friends a treat, please check our latest display at the library which celebrates books of poetry especially for young readers.  "Celebrating Poetry" features various authors whose verses will delight and amuse you.  Happy Reading!

...But the Cover is Green!

Sometimes, have you forgotten the author and title of a book you want to read, but all you can remember is the color of the cover?  I have done that myself, and it's just something that happens to everyone.  So, the staff here at Fairbanks got to thinking about a display of books that have a predominant color for the cover, and we came up with "Green" as the theme.  "I Don't Remember the Title...But the Cover is Green!" has a selection of titles that all have green covers but that is all.  Check it out and see if there is a book with a green cover that you want to read.  Happy Reading!

Spring Cleaning!

It certainly seems like springtime is already here in Houston even though it is only mid-March.  In case you have begun to think about doing some spring cleaning, then we have some great recommendations for books to help you plan and complete your projects.  Please browse our display, "Spring Cleaning," and hopefully you will find some to check out.  If not, please don't forget that we can interlibrary loan titles from other branches in the library system.  Happy Reading and Happy Spring Cleaning!
