Good Books for Your Reading Basket

Other than brightly colored eggs to put in your holiday basket, please consider adding some good books to read and share.  To help you find some fun titles, we have a display of recommended books by the staff here at the Fairbanks Branch.  Visit the library and browse the display, "Good Reading for Your Book Basket," and take some stories home with you.  Happy Reading!

Picnic Pests

Warm weather and sunshine make me think of making sandwiches and potato salad and going on a picnic in the park.  I like picnics, but not the ants and other bugs that want to share my picnic food--or me!  But, those picnic pests are just part of being outdoors, and to make it easier to put up with them there is a new display of fiction and nonfiction books at the Fairbanks Branch Library for your reading pleasure--"Picnic Pests."  Check out the titles on display on your next visit to the library and take some books on your next picnic to share with family and friends--not the bugs!  Happy Reading!

Gunk and Muck Reads @ Your Library

Have you ever read a picture book story about garbage trucks?  About being stuck in the mud?  If not, then visit the library and browse a new display where the theme is "Gunk and Muck."   Along with the picture books, there are nonfiction books in which you can learn about swamps and marshes, and other wet and muddy places in nature.  If you can't find the book you want, please let us interlibrary loan material for you.  Happy Reading!

Sink Your Teeth into a Good Book!

One of the things I like to do when I was growing up was to visit the zoo.  I was fascinated by the different types of animals and could walk around for hours looking at the lions, zebras, bears, and various types of birds that were part of the zoo's collection.  But I never lingered long at the alligator pool; I would take a quick look and move on.  I never trusted those alligators--and still don't!  Now, I may not like to get too close to the alligators at the zoo, but I do like to read about them and crocodiles as well.  We have a new browsing display here at the library of informational books and picture story books about alligators and crocodiles for you to "sink your teeth into."  Ouch! and Happy Reading!

"Believe It Or Not!"

Do you like to read about interesting and unusual people and things?  Do you like to read about the wacky and bizarre?  Then we have some suggested reading for you here at the Fairbanks Branch Library.  When you are next in the library, please browse our new display--"Believe It Or Not!"  I bet you can find something to interest you.  And, don't forget, we can always interlibrary loan books on your favorite subjects.  Happy Reading!

Mighty Machines

Trucks, tractors, bulldozers!  These are just a few of the mighty machines you can read about in a new display at the Fairbanks Branch Library.  If you like to read about machines that help keep us rolling and building, please browse the "Mighty Machines" display on your next visit to the library.  If you don't find the right book for you, please ask and we will interlibrary loan what you need.  Happy Reading!
