Haunted House Story Time

Please join us at Fairbanks Branch Library for a Haunted House Story Time on Saturday, October 30, at 2:00pm in the library meeting room.  We will share stories, a craft, and refreshments to spice up your afternoon.  So Save the Date! and we look forward to seeing you then.

Spooky Reads @ Your Library

With the beginning of the month of October, it is time to think about selecting some good spooky stories to read and share.  To help your selection we have created a picture book display of titles that have spooky characters in the stories and that are fun reads.  Please take a look at "We Love Booooooooks!" on your next visit to the library and check some titles to take home.  If you do not find the titles you want, just let us know and we will get them for you.  Happy Reading!

"It's Raining Cats & Dogs"

With the recent rains, the staff here at the Fairbanks Branch Library created a new display of picture books that feature cats and dogs.  For a rainy day and even a day of sunshine, these stories can make you smile and are fun to share with the children in your life.  Please take a look at the "It's Raining Cats & Dogs" display in the children's area of the library and select some books for your reading pleasure.  As always, if there is a title you want, we can get it for you.

Fall Into Books Evening Story Time

Please mark your calendars for our monthly family evening story time here at Fairbanks Branch Library at 7:00 pm on Monday, September 27 in the library meeting room.  Help us welcome the coming of the Fall season as we share stories and activities for the changing seasons.  So, save the date and we will see you Monday, September 27th.

August Family Evening Story Time

Please join us for our monthly family evening story time on Monday, August 30 at 7:00pm in the meeting here at the Fairbanks Branch Library.  We will have several picture book stories to share plus a fun and easy craft following the stories.  So, take a break from the beginning of the week and come out to your library.  See you Monday evening!

Reading About Creepy Creatures

Do you like to read about unusual creatures that live on the land and in the sea?  Then, visit the library and check out a new display of books--"Creepy Creatures."  Scary sharks and other critters that live in the sea, leeches, Tasmanian devils, and many more creatures that nobody loves or wants to meet.  You can find them in books here at the library, and if you don't, then we will request information for you with our Interlibrary Loan service.  See you soon!

Boredom Busters! @ Your Library

As the summer vacation period is coming to an end, spice up the days before school starts with some fun books from our Boredom Busters! display here at the library.  We have selected some joke books, books of riddles, origami books, drawing books, and many others to challenge and entertain you.  If we do not have what you need, please ask at the circulation desk and we will be happy to request it for you.

Beyond the Summer Reading Program

The Summer Reading Program for 2010 ends Saturday, August 07, so it's time to record the books--print and/or recorded version--you have read, either by title or number of minutes you used to complete the book.  The special programs at Fairbanks Branch during the summer will conclude; however, the preschool story times and the infant/toddler story times continue throughout the year as well as during the summer.  Preschool Story Time continues on Tuesday mornings at 10:30am.  Infant/Toddler Story Time continues on Wednesday mornings at 10:30am.

Back To School Stories

As the last week of the month of July is coming to a close and the month of August will begin, it is time to start thinking about the local schools starting classes again for the fall semester.  We have a new display of picture book stories about schools, students, and teachers for your reading pleasure.  So, visit the library soon and select some back-to-school stories to read and share.  If there is a particular title you would like and we do not have it in our branch collection, then we can interlibrary loan a copy for you.  And, enjoy the remainder of the summer vacation!
