Reading About Creepy Creatures

Do you like to read about unusual creatures that live on the land and in the sea?  Then, visit the library and check out a new display of books--"Creepy Creatures."  Scary sharks and other critters that live in the sea, leeches, Tasmanian devils, and many more creatures that nobody loves or wants to meet.  You can find them in books here at the library, and if you don't, then we will request information for you with our Interlibrary Loan service.  See you soon!

Boredom Busters! @ Your Library

As the summer vacation period is coming to an end, spice up the days before school starts with some fun books from our Boredom Busters! display here at the library.  We have selected some joke books, books of riddles, origami books, drawing books, and many others to challenge and entertain you.  If we do not have what you need, please ask at the circulation desk and we will be happy to request it for you.

Beyond the Summer Reading Program

The Summer Reading Program for 2010 ends Saturday, August 07, so it's time to record the books--print and/or recorded version--you have read, either by title or number of minutes you used to complete the book.  The special programs at Fairbanks Branch during the summer will conclude; however, the preschool story times and the infant/toddler story times continue throughout the year as well as during the summer.  Preschool Story Time continues on Tuesday mornings at 10:30am.  Infant/Toddler Story Time continues on Wednesday mornings at 10:30am.

Back To School Stories

As the last week of the month of July is coming to a close and the month of August will begin, it is time to start thinking about the local schools starting classes again for the fall semester.  We have a new display of picture book stories about schools, students, and teachers for your reading pleasure.  So, visit the library soon and select some back-to-school stories to read and share.  If there is a particular title you would like and we do not have it in our branch collection, then we can interlibrary loan a copy for you.  And, enjoy the remainder of the summer vacation!

Star Readers @ Your Library

The Summer Reading Program continues at the Fairbanks Branch Library and I want to remind all Kids Readers that if you complete reading 50 books, then you receive a red ribbon with "Star Reader" in gold lettering.  So, keep on reading, reading, and reading this summer and you will be a "Star Reader" @ Your Library.  I look forward to awarding a lot of red ribbons!

Domino's Pizza Party @ Fairbanks Branch

As the Summer Reading Program continues at the Fairbanks Branch Library, we look forward to the Domino's Pizza Party here at the library on Tuesday, July 6th, at 2:00pm.  This is your chance to see some of the people from Domino's Pizza show how pizzas are made and have a chance to practice the fine art of making pizza.  Please join us for this fun program and "pizza"zaz your summer!

Make Your Summer "Count" @ Your Library

Just because school is out for the summer and you have no math homework, that does not mean that you can't have some fun with numbers and how to use them.  There are many fun books using math and your library here at Fairbanks Branch has a special display of math books to amuse and challenge you as you enjoy the summer vacation.  On your next visit to the library, please take a look at the "Go Figure!" display and find a book you like.  If you don't find what you want, please ask us and we can interlibrary loan the book you need.
