Fall Trees & Leaves

To celebrate the ending of the summer season and the advent of Fall weather, the front windows at the Fairbanks Branch Library are decorated with some trees and fall-colored leaves.  Please take a look on your next visit to the library and experience the library's Fall atmosphere.  It's a good reminder that cooler weather is an extra good time to curl up with some good books and read about your favorite characters and types of stories.  Happy Reading!

Celebrating Grandparents

Just like we celebrate Moms and Dads, we celebrate Grandmothers and Grandfathers.  Many of the picture books in the library's children's collection are stories about grandparents, and we have a new display of some of those titles for you to browse on your next visit to the library.  Please take a look and check some out to share with family and friends.  As always, ask us about interlibrary loaning books that you can't find here at the Fairbanks Branch Library.  Happy Reading!

             

Are You Ready for Some Football?

It is that time of the year when professional, college, and school football games start up.  Football fans have their favorite teams and love to watch games at the stadium or on television.  To help you enjoy the season, the Fairbanks Branch Library has a new display of football books for your reading pleasure.  Please browse the display on your next visit to the library, and check out some books to take home.  Don't forget that we can interlibrary loan books for you if we don't have them in the collection here at the library.  Happy Reading!

 

Mad Science

It's a brand new school semester and for students needing to think about science fair projects, the Fairbanks Branch Library has a new display of science fair project books to help you.  Please browse the display and you can find books about science projects involving chemistry, physics, astronomy, food and other subjects.  If you don't find what you need, please ask us to help you find material for you.  Don't forget that we can interlibrary loan books from other locations for you.  Happy Experimenting!

 

Moving with Music

Even if you don't play a musical instrument, you may like to read about different types of instruments and also about the many interesting types of music such as jazz, country, rock, and popular.  Please browse the library's display, "Moving with Music," and you may find some titles to check out for your informational and pleasure reading.  Keep a song in your heart and Happy Reading!

True Crime

If you like to read mystery and/or suspense stories, you also might like to read books about true crimes.  The library has a good number of titles in the collection, and we have created a new display of true crime books for you to browse.  Take a look during your next visit to the library and perhaps you will find a title to read. 

On Safari

Do you know what kinds of animals you can meet if you went on a safari?  Maybe some lions,some zebras, or some giraffes?  How about some elephants, hyenas, hippos, or rhinos?  If you would like to learn more about some of these animals, please browse one of the library's newest displays, "On Safari."  The books on display contain lots of photos and interesting facts about these animals.  So, dig out your safari outfit and helmet and trek on down to the library.  Just watch out for any crocodiles on the way.  Happy Reading!

 

Books With Bite

 

What does "Books with Bite" mean?  Simply, books about sharks, sharks, and more sharks!  Hammerhead sharks, tiger sharks, great white sharks, whale sharks, and more can be found in many of the books included in our newest display at the library.  if you want to know about sharks, please browse "Books with Bite" and select some titles to check out.  Happy Reading!

 

Body Works

One of the many interesting subjects to read about is the human body and how it works.  Many informational books have been written about how the human body functions and some of those books are now part of a new display at the library, "Body Works."  Please browse this new display at our next visit to the library and select some for your reading list.  If we do not have what you need, please ask and the library staff will be happy to interlibrary loan materials for you.

Getting on the Bus with the Pigeon

Calling all fans of Mo Willems!  Circle the date of next Wednesday, July 31, at 2:00 PM, to attend our "Getting on the Bus with the Pigeon" program here at the Fairbanks Branch Library.  We will gather in the library's meeting room to share stories and craft activities to celebrate the Pigeon and other characters created by author/illustrator Mo Willems.  See you then and keep reading.
