Balloon Sculpture @ Your Library

Have you ever thought about how to make figures using balloons?  If you would like to find out, please attend our "Balloon Basics" program next Wednesday, June 19, at 2:00 pm in the meeting room here at the Fairbanks Branch Library.  Ms. Sabrina will show how to use balloons to sculpt figures and make a balloon figure for you.  This program is part of our Summer Reading Program here at the library.  See you then! 

Snakes Do's and Don'ts

Do you want to learn more about snakes found around the Houston area?  And how to be safe around snakes?  Then you are encouraged to attend the "Texas Snakes" program at the Fairbanks Branch Library on Thursday, June 13 at 2:00 PM.  This program is just one of the many programs offered as part of the of the Summer Reading Program at the Fairbanks Branch Library.  See you then!

Destination: The Circus

During the summer, the Preschool Storytimes at the Fairbanks Branch Library will focus on a particular theme.  The theme for Preschool Storytime at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 4 is "The Circus."  Please join us then as we share picture books and activities related to a trip to the circus.  No ticket necessary.  See you then and Keep on Reading!

Para los Ninos @ Your Library

Save the date!  On Saturday, June 8, the Fairbanks Branch Library will present a "Para los Niños" program at 11:00 AM in the library meeting room as part of the library's Summer Reading Program.  "Para los Ninos" is a family learning program that serves parents and their children as they learn and grow together.  Focusing on the topic of "Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies," parents and their children will share a storytime and do several hands-on activities while learning ways to incorporate healthy habits into their children's daily lives.  Healthy refreshments will be provided.  See you then!

   

Reading the Rainbow of Colors

What is your favorite color?  Do you like to read stories about colors or that have a color in the title of the book?  Then you should browse our display of children's picture books, "Reading the Rainbow."  You will find a large selection of "colorful" titles to read and share.  Happy Reading!

Creepy Creatures

Snakes!  And Crocodiles!  And Slithering Things!  Oh My!  "Creepy Creatures" is one of the library's latest display for your browsing pleasure.  There are books about alligators, crocodiles, iguanas, and different types of snakes for informational and recreational reading.  Check it out on your next visit to the library.  If you do not find what you need, please remember to ask us to interlibrary loan materials for you.  Happy Reading!

Gardening Time @ Your Library

It's that time of the year when the plants and trees in the area start growing and blooming, and you have to start thinking about lawn and garden maintenance.  To help you keep your lawn and garden in shape, the library has a new display of gardening and lawn books as suggested resources.  On your next visit to the library, please browse the "Gardening Resources" display and check out some of the books.  If we don't have what you need, please ask us to interlibrary loan other materials for you.  Happy Gardening!

Hear That Whistle Blow!

It's Raining Books about Cats & Dogs!

Well, not really "raining" books, but the Fairbanks Branch Library does have many books in our collection about cats and dogs.  Several of those titles are now in a new display at the library and you are encouraged to browse the display on your next visit to the library.  The library staff is happy to help you find books and materials you need, so please don't hesitate to ask us if you don't find what you need.  Happy Reading!
