Branch Details & Services

About this Branch

The Kingwood Branch Library offers a variety of library services both in the library and in the community. Many of our programs, like story times, Book Buddies and our annual Summer Reading Program, focus on literacy, but we seek to engage our customers' creativity and ingenuity in everything we do.

The original Kingwood Library opened in 1983. It was the result of a grassroots effort by area residents who saw the need for a library in their growing community. The current library building was funded jointly by Harris County and the City of Houston. It opened its doors on April 19, 2010. After flooding from Hurricane Harvey occurred in 2017, the building was rehabilitated and reopened May 29, 2018.

I love a good dystopia, but there is no denying that they don’t paint a rosy view of the future. To ring in the New Year, I’ve picked some books that imagine a future (or a present) full of robotic hijinx and alien adventures.  Also, strangely enough, a lot of cats.
Love ghosts but hate being scared? Here are some middle grade books for us scaredy cats who still feel like getting in the Halloween spirit.
