Harris County Public Library - Cy-Fair College Branch

The Cy-Fair College Branch is the 26th branch of the Harris County Public Library and the fifth college library of the Lone Star College. Cy-Fair opened for service at 7 AM on Tuesday, August 19, 2003.

Directions :
Cy-Fair Library is located on the Cy-Fair College campus. From 290 take the Barker Cypress Exit traveling west. At the stop sign, make a left turn traveling south. Travel to the intersection of West Road. Make a right turn and follow the signage to the campus. The library is in building C with the Learning Commons on the far west side of the campus nearest the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department Station. Enter the door facing the parking lot. Map

PARTNERSHIP

The partnership between Harris County Public Library (HCPL) and Cy-Fair College (CFC) offers the Cy-Fair community a unique blending of services that enhances their learning opportunities. In its original design, CFC had merged the college library and its learning support services in an effort to more effectively serve the needs of the students. Entering into an agreement with HCPL presented both institutions the opportunity to take this original design to another level. HCPL and CFC staffs worked closely together to maintain the integrity of the blended services from the original design
while merging the full services of the county public library.

The goal of the teams was to have both a service model and physical design model that offered the highest level of services to the general public and the students. It is important that when customers and students use the facility the services they receive meets all of their learning or information needs. The work of the design and operations planning teams has resulted in meeting this goal. Both students and customers are served by a well-trained and integrated staff that will provide quality service to meet the diverse needs of our community.

- The facility offers the usual full level of public/college library learning services.
- Tutoring services are available for math, writing, reading, science and ESL
- The building includes a 7000 sq. ft. children's library.
- The career center offers a full range of services.
- The Internet Café located in the building creates a relaxing atmosphere with the opportunity to do computer work through a wireless network.
- An assistive technology lab is available for persons with special needs.
- The young adult area will have a full range books and materials.
- Community meeting rooms are available for public use.
- A self check-out system will allow quicker service to those wishing to borrow materials.
- Computers for general use are located throughout the facility.
