The Clear Lake City-County Freeman Branch Library offers a complete and exciting online experience.   Customers can sit in a comfortable armchair and browse the Internet on a wireless laptop; book the meeting space and use state of the art projection equipment; find a favorite book or movie through the online catalog, book reviews, or book lists; research a family tree on the Heritage Quest database; and learn new computer skills in the Training Space.

Freeman Second Floor ComputersNeed to write your resume or do a PowerPoint for school? The library has 100 computers available throughout the building for your convenience.   Most computers offer access to the library catalog, the Internet, and the Microsoft Office Suite, which includes Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.   For that quick catalog check there are also catalog-only computers. Computers can be booked with a library card in one-hour time slots for up to two hours per day.  

Bring your own laptop to the library and connect to the Internet on our fast wireless network. Wireless connectivity is available throughout the building, including in meeting and study spaces. Don’t have your own laptop? We have that covered too; you can check out one of the library’s laptops so you can curl up in one of the comfortable chairs and surf the wonders of the web.

Through the library’s eBranch website kids, parents, teens, teachers, and business people can access online library services 24/7/365 at the library and from home or work.   You can reserve or renew books through the online catalog, which offers access to the 2.3 million items in the system including 160,000 at the Clear Lake City-County Freeman Branch Library; fill out a library card application; look up Clear Lake businesses or your ancestors in the online databases; find a recommended book in the book reviews; and get the Clear Lake City-County Freeman Branch Library’s calendar of events.

Freeman Training LabIn the second floor Training Space, customers young and old can learn new computer skills. The two Training Lab Assistants offer ongoing hands-on computers classes.   The lab is equipped with nineteen computers and projection equipment. Classes are offered in the MS Office Suite including Word and Excel as well as beginning Internet.

Book the library’s state-of the-art Meeting Space for your group’s next meeting.   It has projection equipment and an infrared assistive listening system.   The Conference Space on the second floor offers seating for twelve.   The Meeting Space has kitchen facilities.
