The History of Red Wolves in La Porte: Saturday, June 30, 10:30 am. Did you know that a relatively short time ago the now endangered red wolf species lived in La Porte? Please join us on Friday, May 25 at 10:15 AM as the TGIF Programs Friday Film Series Celebrates Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month. We look forward to showing the 2005 romantic, drama, based on Arthur Golden's bestselling novel about the meteoric rise of a Japanese fish-village girl to renowned geisha. This film, rated PG-13, lasts 145 minutes.

The Friends of Freeman Library provide both the DVD and light refreshments for this event. Afterwards, the DVD will be added to the HCPL Collection and available for checkout. This free program requires no registration.

Chinese foodThis Saturday, May 19, from 1:30-2:30 pm, the library will host a Chinese food-tasting event in honor of Asian/Pacific-American Heritage Month. Participants will have an opportunity to sample different traditional recipes of China. Supplies are limited, of course. Word Crafter Meetings for May


Due to the earlier closing at Lone Star College North Harris for the rest of May, Word Crafters will be meeting at another location for the next 3 weeks.  (May 16, 23, and 30)  We will be meeting at 5 pm at the Starbucks at 1960 and Kenswick.  The address there is 8446 FM 1960 Bypass W Road in Humble.  If you need any more information, please call Carrie at 281-765-7726.  I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.  Today we will still be doing a prompt, and discussing future meetings for June and beyond.  So if you like to write, come join us.  We would love to see you there!
