Learning Express Library

Did you know that Harris County Public Library provides free access to the Learning Express Library database? This database has GED practice tests available in the areas of Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies, and includes a GED en Español section as well. Adults are invited to join us this Saturday, September 8 @ 1:30 PM to learn how to access this valuable resource with a library card.

Star Wars Festival

With May the 4 long past, and Star Wars Episode IX still a long ways off, I’m sure many of you are feeling a distinct lack of the Force in your life. If that is the case, make sure that you come to the Evelyn Meador Branch Library’s Star Wars Festival on September 8. From 2:00 to 4:00 PM that Saturday, we will have a variety of Star Wars events that will fill that void in your life. Some of these amazing activities are:

Yoga for Adults, Wednesday Evenings at 6:15 pm

Beginner level YOGA class every Wednesday evening at 6:15pm. Yoga is a system of physical exercises, breath control, and meditation aimed at attaining bodily and mental control and well-being. The word “yoga” comes from the Sanskrit word Yuj, meaning to “yoke,” “join,” or “unite.” The word implies joining or integrating all aspects of the body with the mind to achieve a healthy and balanced life. Creative Art Club for Adults, Wednesday Afternoons at 1:30 pm

 Studies have shown that creating art can help lower anxiety levels, reduce stress, and prevent boredom. Come and join us at the Northwest Branch Library and get in touch with your creative side. Zentangle, drawing, and other creative approaches will be practiced. This program is free and open to the public.This program takes place on Wednesday afternoons at 1:30pm.
