Stop Teen Dating Violence

Do you have a teenager about to enter the dreaded world of dating?  How do you keep them safe?  This Tuesday, April 24 at 7 PM, Barbara McInnis, a Victim Liason with Harris County Constable Precinct 5, will be at the Maud Marks Library to talk about teen dating violence.  Learn why teens can get violent while on a date, what signs to watch for to catch if your child is in a violent relationship, steps to prevent teen violence, and what to do if it happens to your child.  Click here for more information and  to register.

Wednesday April 18 Meetings

Today is Wednesday, April 18 and Baldwin Boettcher has a couple groups meeting at Lone Star College North Harris.  Spin-a-Yarn will meet at 2 pm and Word Crafters will meet at 5:30 pm.  Both groups will meet in the same place.  They will be on the third floor of the library building in the Makerspace area.  If you like to knit, crochet, create, or write come to both.  We would love to see you here!

Financial Literacy

piggy bankI know, I know...financial literacy. Not the most exciting of topics I agree, but it is a worthwhile one. It's also Houston Money Week, an initiative designed to provide individuals and familes with financial knowledge.

Baldwin Boettcher's Word Crafters

Here is a recap on the trip that Baldwin Boettcher’s Word Crafters went on Saturday.  It was at the Copperfield Bookstore for their 4th annual “Local Author Fair”.   We had an awesome time meeting the different local authors.

Be Your Own Auto Mechanic

Are you tired of paying a mechanic to do things you suspect you could do yourself? Then come and learn about a digital resource that will make it possible! The Chilton database is free to library card holders and will walk you step by step through thousands of repair and maintenance projects for hundreds of models of cars and trucks. We will host a demonstration in our computer lab on Saturday, April 21, at 10:00 am. Space is limited, so call, stop by, or register through our events calendar.

Adults - Friday, 4/20 @ 10:30 AM - TGIF Programs Hosts Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)

Adults - please join us Friday, April 20 at 10:30 AM for a presentation by Trond Saeverud, Maestro of the Galveston Symphony Orchestra, of Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI). This OLLI, based in UTMB, is a continuing education program offering older adults a grade-free opportunity to discover a variety of subjects and disciplines.

Drone Flying Club [8 to Adult] - Monday, April 23 at 5 PM

The South Belt Ellington area has always been an innovative location for the expansion of aerospace.

With a grant from the Parker Williams and Harris County Friends of the Library, we have been able to purchase the equipment to begin our own drown flying club.

If you have ever wanted to learn how to fly a quadcopter, you can learn right here at the Parker Williams Branch Library on the second and fourth Monday from 5 PM to 6 PM. 

Volunteers Needed!

Do you have a craft or hobby that you would like to share with the community? The Kingwood Branch Library is recruiting volunteers from Kingwood and the surrounding communities to take part in our library sponsored programs.

Community Craft – Spring Hat [All Ages] - Thursday, April 19th at 4 PM

Springtime is here as we start to come out of our winter hidey holes and meet the new season.

For most of us, this means going out and about in the sun.

For our April Community Craft, we are going to be making a Spring Hat.
