Community Novel Question of the Week

community novel poster

For the past few months, twenty writers have been collaborating on the Tomball Library’s first community novel, Air Within a Jade. While the writers planned the overarching plot together, each writer is responsible for contributing one chapter, building on the writers before them.

Whether you have been reading along with the novel from the beginning or are just now checking it out, you’ll want to stop by the library this week and participate in the question of the week. Visit the Reference Desk and ask for the “Community Novel Question of the Week.” Answer the question correctly and have your name entered into a prize drawing. Remember, the question will change each week and will always relate to the novel!

Interested readers can find eight of the twenty chapters of Air Within a Jade at this website.

Hurricane Watch

Now that our Summer Reading Program is drawing to a close (come and get your prizes if you haven’t already), we at Evelyn Meador Branch Library are moving into a little bit of downtime until school starts. However, we still have a lot to offer the community that you should come in to see. With the anniversary of Hurricane Harvey coming up, and with hurricane season still in full swing, we want to help teach people how to deal with hurricanes. As such, on Tuesday, August 14, at 6:30 PM we have invited NOAA meteorologist Jeffry Evans, to come to the library and discuss some of these issues. With a lot of good information, like hurricane preparedness, a discussion on how much of an anomaly Hurricane Harvey was, and how weather watches work, this lecture is one that you are sure to want to attend.

DNA testing is commonly used to help gain a better understanding of our deep and recent roots, to verify or break down genealogical findings and to connect with unknown relatives who can help fill out the family tree.

Join us on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at 10:00 am for DNA Testing: The Basics with Genealogist Devon Noel Lee.
