Reading, Learning, and Community Involvement: Gulf Coast Reads @ Jacinto City Branch Library

Jacinto City Branch Library is hosting two programs this week as part of the Gulf Coast Reads series of events. This endeavor provides an opportunity to participate in a community-wide discussion by reading and sharing views about the same book. Sharing this goal encourages community members to make reading, learning and community involvement a lifelong pursuit.

Free Medicare Learning Event

La Porte resident Steve Baker of BakerSeniors will give an informative and educational session about Medicare on Monday, October 23, 7 pm – 8:30 pm. Free and open to everyone. No registration required.

DIY Book Pumpkin

Fall has arrived, and this week the temperature will finally be falling into the 70s! If you are looking for a creative way to decorate your home this season, we invite you to join us on Monday, October 16 @ 1:30 pm for a DIY Book Pumpkin Craft for adults. In this simple craft, we will be creating beautiful pumpkins out of old donated paperback books.

80's Movie Night: Ferris Bueller's Day Off

We are continuing our flashback to the past with 80’s Movie Night! Join us on the 3rd Monday of every month for a different awesomely rad 80’s movie! This month, we will be watching the John Hughes classic, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (PG-13), starring Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck. We’ll provide the popcorn, but make sure you bring your own non-alcoholic beverage of choice!

The movie will be shown in the first floor Meeting Room (L129) on Monday, October 16th starting at 6:30 pm.

Please join TGIF Programs on Friday for the "Food Fiesta Food Demo" event. Freeman staff will show the audience how to make delicious dishes from Mexico. This food demo is part of our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.

This free event will require no registration. The refreshments prepared during this event will be provided by the Friends of Freeman Library.
