Please join us in the Marge Jacobson Community Room for a Skype Conversation with Mike Guardia - Author and Speaker. Mike will talk about one of his books, Hal Moore on Leadership, which focuses on a set of principles developed and followed by the late Lt. General Hal Moore who was portrayed by Mel Gibson in the 2002 film We Were Soldiers. Mike's presentation will be followed by a question and answer session.

Summer is Here, Time to Read!

The Harris County Public Library is starting it’s Summer Reading Program, “A Universe of Stories”, on June 3rd, so it’s almost time to start reading! This year, record your reading on our website, or sign up on the Beanstack app, to earn points and prizes for all ages. Then come to the library to collect your prizes, like books, earbuds, and gift certificates.

Also, don’t forget to pick up a calendar of summer events at the library, or check them on our online calendar, so that you don’t miss out on great programs for all ages like educational classes, fun festivals, crafts, and other events.

Did you know that we offer free yoga classes? If you are looking for a yoga class, try one of ours!

FREE Spanish language classes @ Kingwood Library

Kingwood Library offers free Spanish-language classes. We meet in the 2nd floor conference room. After a hiatus, our intermediate class on Tuesdays from 11:30 AM - 1 PM is available once again. The beginner class meets on Thursdays from 6-8 PM. Join us!

 

Meet Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni

Come to the Evelyn Meador Branch Library Monday, May 20, at 11:00 AM for the special author appearance of Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni! This wonderful local author will be discussing and signing her book "Before We Visit the Goddess", a powerful story about three generations of mothers and daughters who find strength in each other. Everyone is welcome to this event, so don't miss out!

Adult Nutrition Classes @Kingwood Library

#KingwoodLibrary is pleased to offer a series Adult Nutrition Classes on Thursdays beginning May 23rd. Join Ana Hernandez of Texas A&M Agrilife Extension in the Meeting Room for this expanded food and nutrition education program. Through this series, you will explore how to:

• Cook more meals and snacks at home
• Eat more fruits and vegetables
• Be more active with your family
• Reach and/or stay at a healthy weight
• Save money on groceries
• Control portion size
• Have more energy
• Keep food safe

There is no charge to participate! No registration required.

We hope you will join us starting Thursday 5/23.

Maker Imagineering Gallery

The Barbara Bush Library is creating a MakerLab and we would love your input! You are cordially invited to innovate, make, and collaborate! Come tinker with a myriad of materials, machines as well as robots.

If you bring a tshirt, you can use our cricut to make a customizable shirt! 

We look forward to you joining us to create innovative sparks leading to the ignition of a further inquiry and discovery to build a better world starting with our community.
