SAGE: A Morning of Calligraphy

Join SAGE on Tuesday 12/4 from 10 am-12 pm in the Meeting Room to learn the beautiful art of Islamic Calligraphy. This is a basic course & hands-on workshop on calligraphy presented by Munther Yusuf- an accomplished Master Calligrapher from the Islamic Art Society. Don't miss it!

ESL Registration

The Katy Branch Library will begin accepting applications for our spring ESL and Citizenship classes this Saturday, December 1st.  The applications are available at the front desk at the library.  Anyone interested in ESL must register to take a placement test, which will be held  January 9, 2019 and January 10, 2019.   There is no required test for Citizenship class.    All classes are free and will start the week of January 21, 2019.

Blood Drive at Kingwood Library

Commit to life! Join Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center in the parking lot at Kingwood Library on Monday 12/3 from 9 AM - 3 PM to donate blood. Donors will have the opportunity to write greetings on a card that will be attached to a teddy bear & delivered to someone spending the holidays in the hospital.

The TGIF Programs Friday Film Series wraps up for Fall 2018 on Friday, 11/30 at 10:15 AM. Please join us for a showing of the 2013 drama about Author P.L. Travers reflects on her childhood after reluctantly meeting with Walt Disney, who seeks to adapt her Mary Poppins books for the big screen. This film, Rated PG-13, which stars Emma Thompson, Tom Hanks, and Annie Rose Buckley, lasts 125 minutes. The Friends of Freeman Library provide both the DVD and light refreshments for this event. This free program requires no registration.

Adults, Join Us Thursday, 12/6 for Conquer the Stress Monster


On Thursday, 12/6 at 6:00 PM in the 1st floor Meeting Room, Valerie Coyle, Certified Health & Life Coach, will discuss:

  • * How stress shows up in the body
  • * Its helpful and harmful signals
  • * How to manage stress in our lives

She will talk about chronic low-level stress is the new norm; how stress can cause us to act in unhealthy ways; its’ results on the hormone cortisol, digestion activity, and daily living. She will talk about solutions for managing stress.

At the Freeman Sewing Social, you can meet new sewing buddies while you work on your own work-in-progress. Whether you’re in the prepping, cutting, stitching, or finishing stage of your project, join us for a delightful time as we work on our projects, listen to soft tunes, and mingle. This program is NOT an instructional class but rather an opportunity to get social with your sewing!
