Join us at our next free computer class Tuesday, September 11 at 10:30 am, and learn how to visit websites, perform searches, and change your Internet settings. We will visit popular websites for news, information, directions, job searches and more. No registration is required.

Drone Flying Club [7 to Adult] - Monday, September 10th at 5 PM

 

 

The South Belt Ellington area has always been an innovative location for the expansion of aerospace.

With a grant from the Parker Williams and Harris County Friends of the Library, we have been able to purchase the equipment to begin our own drown flying club.

If you have ever wanted to learn how to fly a quadcopter, you can learn right here at the Parker Williams Branch Library on Monday, September 10th from 5 PM to 6 PM. 

Learning Express Library

Did you know that Harris County Public Library provides free access to the Learning Express Library database? This database has GED practice tests available in the areas of Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies, and includes a GED en Español section as well. Adults are invited to join us this Saturday, September 8 @ 1:30 PM to learn how to access this valuable resource with a library card.

Star Wars Festival

With May the 4 long past, and Star Wars Episode IX still a long ways off, I’m sure many of you are feeling a distinct lack of the Force in your life. If that is the case, make sure that you come to the Evelyn Meador Branch Library’s Star Wars Festival on September 8. From 2:00 to 4:00 PM that Saturday, we will have a variety of Star Wars events that will fill that void in your life. Some of these amazing activities are:

Homeschool Support Group

Starting in September, we will be offering a Homeschool Support Group. Each month, we will highlight a different theme and discuss with suggested materials. In September, we will be meeting on September 15th and the theme is Reading Aloud / English Language Arts & Reading. 

Variety of backgrounds, religious beliefs, and lifestyles are encouraged. We come with an open mind and words of encouragement. Reflect, pick brains, grow, and plan for the future.

So You Bought an Instant Pot… Now What? [15 and Adult] - Wednesday, September 5th at 7:00 PM

The Instant Pot is a “Smart Multi-Use, Programmable Pressure Cooker…” that makes meals quickly (https://instantpot.com/).

It was one of the top selling items sold on Prime Day in July.

If you bought one and it’s still in the box, you may be asking yourself, “Now what?”

Join us on Wednesday, September 5th in the Library Community Room at 7 PM as we demystify preconceived notions and any myths about these instapot cookers as well as guide you through the basics and verbiage used to cook in one of these nifty units.

TGIF Programs invites adults of all ages to join us for our Summer Film Fest. We will be showing films on various dates during Summer 2018. This free event requires no registration.

On Friday, August 31 at 10:15 AM, the Summer Film Fest concludes with a 1967 musical comedy about an ambitious window washer who seeks to climb the corporate ladder. This unrated film which stars Robert Morse, Michele Lee, and Rudy Vallee, lasts 121 minutes.
