Join Daya Sharma as he connects meditation and spiritual development to important aspects of our lives. He will offer a practical technique of meditation that can positively impact your life.

A Place for All People

a place for all peopleCelebrate Black History Month with a debut exhibit from the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES).

The exhibit will be on display in the library until the end of February. Learn more about the exhibit from the Smithsonian.

"A Place for All People is a historic poster exhibit celebrating the opening of the newest Smithsonian museum, the National Museum of African American History and Culture. A Place for All People is generously supported by the Smithsonian Institution's Office of the Provost. 

Building Life Skills – Basic Exercise February 15th @ 5 PM [9+]

     To combat the modern day convention of binge watching Nexflix and eating junk food, we will be focusing on the basic need for and types of exercise.


     Join us on February 15th at 5PM in the Library Community Room at the Parker Williams Branch Library. We will be learning how your diet effects your weight, what general guidelines the Office of the Surgeon General has given us, and a variety of exercises that are available.

Margaret is retiring!

Everyone knows Margaret Davis as she's been one of the reference librarians at Barbara Bush for 40, yes 40 years! Think how many people she has helped during that time! Well, the unthinkable has happened. Margaret has decided to retire. She will be with us until Feb. 28. 

Please help us in wishing her well as she discovers the new chapter in life that is retirement. Cards are provided at the Information Desk upstairs as well as the Customer Service desk. 
 

February Adult Crafts-To-Go Kits Are Here!


Adults - stop by the upstairs Reference Desk, to pick up an Adult Crafts-To-Go kit. This month, we're making a cozy yarn heart. This free kit will include all materials necessary as well as instructions. This project will be available to adult patrons while supplies last. These hearts were made with the Full Spectrum Laser in our makerspace, the Jocelyn H. Lee Innovation Lab.

Community Craft – Valentine’s Day Craft February 9th @ 3:30-5:30 PM [6+]

    With Valentine’s day just around the corner, you can make a card for that special someone.

 

   Join us on February 9th from 3:30 to 5:30 PM in the Library Community Room to create a card that expresses all the feels.
