Basic Life Skills – Buying Presents December 13th @ 5 PM [12+]

 

 

From Secret Santa to gifts on the big day, buying Christmas presents for others can be challenging.

Join Mr. John in the Library Community Room on December 13th at 5 PM to learn some tips and tricks to picking out the perfect gift. 

Adults - The December Adult Crafts-To-Go Kit Has Arrived!

Adults - please stop by the upstairs Reference Desk, to pick up an Adult Crafts-To-Go kit. This month's project is a fun foam snow globe ornament (see picture). This free kit will include all materials necessary as well as instructions. This project will be available to adult patrons while supplies last.

Adults - Friday, 12/8 @ 10:30 AM - TGIF Programs Hosts Morning Bells Handbell Choir Concert!


The Morning Bells Handbell Choir will perform Friday, December 8 at 10:30 AM. An interfaith adult handbell group for beginners to advanced ringers, the Choir performs for retirement homes, health care centers, community groups, libraries, and other mission opportunities.

Happenings with the Fairbanks Library this weekend

 

Join us at the Fairbanks Library for several events Saturday 12/2 and Sunday 12/3. The library is visiting a galaxy far, far away with a Star Wars movie viewing party with crafts and snacks on Saturday at 2:30 pm at the library.  Sunday the library is going to be creating library cards, doing storytimes, and have crafts (while supplies last) at the Holiday in the Village at the Jersey Village Civic Center from 12-4 pm.  The Civic  Center is  at 16327 Lakeview Drive in Jersey Village.  Call 713-466-4438 for more information.

Beating Long-Term Unemployment

Unemployment 2Do you know anybody who has been unemployed for a long time? If so, send them to the library on Thursday, December 7, at 2:30pm. An expert from Workforce Solutions will help them figure out why they are having so much trouble finding a job and develop a plan to overcome the obstacles keeping them unemployed.

Finding Low-Cost Housing

HousingDo you know anybody who needs low-cost housing or emergency shelter? If so, send them to the library on Tuesday, December 5, at 2:00pm to learn how to use the Harris County Community Services Department’s website to find rental property, opportunities for first-time homebuyers, financial assistance, emergency shelter and other services. The speaker will walk them through the process step-by-step!
