CitizenshipIf you’re looking for a way to help the people of your community, how about helping them prepare for the U.S. Citizenship test? We have a training session for citizenship tutors coming up on Wednesday, July 25, from 1-5 pm. You can register for it through our events calendar. We provide the materials for the class. Good DaughterThe Aldine Library’s Book Club for Adults is reading “The Good Daughter” by Karin Slaughter for our meeting on Tuesday, July 24 at 2:30 pm. Copies are available for checkout at the front desk. It has been rated 4.5 out of 5 stars by Amazon customers, and I can see why!

Congrats Nerissa!

One of our customers, Nerissa, recently visited the Barbara Bush Library to share some good news with us. She passed her Citizenship test and is now a US Citizen! Congrats Nerissa! 

Nerissa previously attended our Citizenship classes with Gaspar and found the information provided very helpful. She's beyond excited about her new achievement!

Harris County Animal Shelter Mobile Adoption [All Ages] - Saturday, July 21st from 11:30-3:30 PM

Come on down to the Parker Williams Branch on July 21st from 11 AM to 2 PM to see if you meet your next fur-baby!

Adult Movie Mania: La La Land

Adults are invited to join us this Friday, July 20 at 3:00 PM for our Adult Movie Mania program. Come and enjoy the movie musical La La Land, a 2016 American musical romantic comedy film starring Ryan Gosling as a jazz pianist and Emma Stone as an aspiring actress, who meet and fall in love in Los Angeles while pursuing their dreams.

Indian Dance Performance and Workshop, July 17th!

 We are going to have an exciting event tomorrow, July 17, at the Barbara Bush Library! We will be having an Indian Dance performance and workshop. Children will learn basic dance techniques, hear stories, and get a chance to see items that relate to India. This program is free of charge and open to children of all ages, no ticket required. It will take place across the street at the Cypress Creek Christian Church community center, and will begin at 3pm.

Community Craft – Design-A-Flip-Flop [7+] - Friday, July 13th at 4 PM

 

 

Summer is the time of year where everyone shows off their fancy sandals.

Join us inside in the Library Community Room at 4 PM on Friday, July 13th at 4 PM at the Parker Williams Branch to design your own pair of flip-flop.

Flip-flops and materials are generously provided by the Parker Williams Friends of the Library.

Adults - July Crafts-To-Go are Here!

Adults - Stop by the upstairs Reference Desk and pick up an Adult Crafts-To-Go kit. This month, we’ll be making magnetic bookmarks (see picture). This free kit will include all materials necessary as well as instructions. This project will be available to adult patrons while supplies last.
