Baby Time

Our Library's Best Friends

Have you enjoyed a program or the services at the library?  Thank the Friends of the Library!  Or better yet, join the Friends of the Library!  So much of what we are able to do here is because of the effort of the Friends of the Bear Creek Library.  Do you use our library, but you’re not sure what programs the Friends benefit?  Click the video to see a small sample of the things we are able to do, thanks to our Friends!

BABY TIME @ YOUR LIBRARY!

If you have little ones, join us for Baby Time each Thursday morning at 10:30 am. This short interactive program introduces board books to children. Plus we sing songs, dance and play with the parachute! Toward the end of the brief program, we open the toy box for fun time with educational toys, including building blocks. And we end each program with bubbles!! The babies love to watch the bubbles, try to touch them and pop them! Plus we now have  "Early Literacy" floor puzzles as well as "Sight and Sound Tubes" as a gift from the North Shore Rotary Club!

Don't Put Paint in Your Mouth, Please!

Do you worry about your infants putting everything in their mouths that they can lay their hands on? But at the same time you want them to be exposed to new textures and learn new motor skills? Worry no more! Come and join us for Infant Explorers on Thursday, April 4, 2013 @ 10:30 AM where we shall have tons of fun painting with homemade edible paints. Here’s the finger paint recipe that we are using.

Mess Alert: Be prepared to get dirty!

Infant Explorers: Bread Painting! Thursday

picture of an infant with paint around his/her mouthJoin us 10:30AM Thursday, March 6th for bread painting.  Babies 0-18 months are welcome to come and explore colors and textures for complete messy sensory exploration. We will be using thick slices of bread as our canvas and different versions of homemade “infant paints.”  This craft is intended as a squishy squeezy experience.  We don’t actually intend for the babies to snack on the bread but we making all the ingredients edible, just in case a few pieces get swallowed.

Infant Explorers: Kool-Aid Playdough

Picture of a Child playing with homemade playdough.Join us 10:30AM Thursday, February 7th for a fun new exploration of Kool-Aid play dough.  Babies 0-18 months are welcome to come and explore colors and textures. We will be using homemade play dough with packets of Kool-Aid to make an array of colors.
This activity is fun and easy to do with household materials. We got our idea from Pinterest! It led us to the website called It’s Gravy Baby.
