Community Craft – Vietnamese Noodle Salad and Bake-A-Plate [All Ages] Friday, January 12 at 4 PM

 

As the New Year comes around again, we start shifting our focus to healthier eating.

Join us at the Parker Williams Branch on January 12th at 4 PM in the Library Community Room to learn how to make a Vietnamese Noodle Salad.

Children are invited to draw on a ceramic plate that will be baked in the oven making their scribbles permanent.

Food and family fun will ensue!   

The Curiosity Cruiser is Coming to Fairbanks

All preschoolers are invited to meet Houston's newest Superheros, Owlbotron and Northtale, at a special STEM based program. The Cruiser will be arriving at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, January 9. What’s Coming Up

3D snowflakeBesides our usual events, here are a few special things we have going on at the Aldine Library in the next week.
The next Doctor Who Club meeting is Saturday, January 6, at 1:00 pm. Come to watch episodes, talk about books, and play Doctor Who-related games.
We are going to host a “Book Tasting” for ages 8-12 on Monday, January 8, at 4:00. We will have four tables set up. Each one will have a different type of book and a person to talk to you about the books. “Taste” all four types of books and see which kind you like best!

Join us on January 11th starting at 4 PM in the Library Community Room to watch Paddington based on the Michael Bond book series.

To go along with the movie, coloring sheets and markers will be provided during the movie. Movie popcorn has been generously provided by the Friends of the Parker Williams Library.

Kid's Pick Book Club

Come to our introductory meeting of the Kid's Pick Book Club at the Fairbanks Branch Library on January 8 at 5 pm. All kids in grades 3-7 are welcome. Kid's get to pick what they want to read at this book club. At the meetings we'll have games and crafts on top of talking about the books. At our first meeting on Monday, everyone will pick a book from a selection of graphic novels and we'll play a game. On Jan. 29 we'll talk about what we've read and pick out our next book. Playbots is a coding club made possible by a generous grant from the American Library Association and Google.

3-D Printer Rainbow Loom Club

daydream braceletFriday, January 5th at 2:00 pm come and loom with us.  Learn to make new creations, share ideas, 3d printermeet new friends and have fun.  We will have 3-D printed looms to make a bracelet.  The looms will be the monster tail size and the bracelet is called the daydream bracelet.  We will watch the 3-D printer make a loom as we work on the project. You will get to keep both the loom and the bracelet you make.  Hooks, bands, clips and instruction are provided.  There will be a random drawing for a 3-D printed bauble to keep treasures.
