Wednesday, November 21st at 3 PM – Sugar Rush Cupcake Decorating and Wreak-It-Ralph (PG) [10+]

 

Join us on November 21st at the Parker Williams Branch Library to revisit with Fit-It Felix, Wreck-It Ralph, and Vanellope von Schweetz before they hit it big on the internet.

While watching the races in Sugar Rush, we’ll be rushing to get some frosting and toppings onto cupcakes.

All the fun will start at 3 PM.

November Book Club this Wednesday, November 14 @4:30 pm

   Is your tween looking for a good book to read over the upcoming holiday break?  They can join us on Wednesday, November 14 at 4:30 pm for the November Book Club.  This fun monthly program features a book discussion and activity.  This month we will be featuring Beverly Cleary's classic Ribsy.  We will talk about the book and then do a fun craft.   Children are not required to have read the bnok before the program.   This program is recommended for children 8-12 years old.  Tickets will be given out at 4:00 pm.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting this program.

Kid's Native American History

Celebrate Native American History Month with us at North Channel Branch! Houston Museum of Natural Science's Docents to Go will be here Wednesday, November 14 at 5pm to present Kid's Native American History, where we'll learn all about the inventiveness and resourcefullness of North America's earliest residents. This program is 45 min. in length and features hands-on learning with real museum artifacts and specimens! Recommended for ages 7-12 years.

Tuesday, November 20th from 1-5 PM – Magic: The Gathering Deck Building [8+]

 

 

Magic: The Gathering is a dueling card game from Wizards of the Coast.

It incorporates strategy, mythical lore, and competitive-community play.

Join us on the Tuesday, November 20th at 1 PM to learn the basics on how to make a competitive deck and search through our library of cards to make your own in-house use deck.

Monday, November 19th from 6-7:30 PM – Magic: The Gathering Gameplay [8+]

 

Magic: The Gathering is a dueling card game from Wizards of the Coast.

It incorporates strategy, mythical lore, and competitive-community play.

Join us on the first and third Mondays from 6PM -7:30PM on the Library Floor for a few hours of game play.

For those who would like to learn how to play, a staff member will be present to teach you.

Lego Mosaic Art!

 

Visit us on Tuesday, November 13th at 4:45 pm for a fun program! "Snapology of Cypress and Woodlands" will provide Fall themed Lego Mosaic Art activities for children ages 5-12. A free ticket is required. Please pick up a ticket at the children's information desk 15 minutes prior to the program. Children must be present to receive tickets.

Monday, November 19th from 2 - 4 PM – Gaming – Fortnite Library Battle [8+]

 

For our community of players, we will be hosting a Fortnite Library Battle where we will have a 2V2 Playground match versus players located at the Evelyn Meador Branch.

There will be timed rotations based on the number of players we have.

This will be happening on Monday, November 19th from 2 to 4 PM in the computer lab.

If you have USB Xbox One or PS4 controller, you can bring it and hook into our computer as long as it has the USB cord attached (or USB wireless charging cord). 

Children's Weekly Run Down!

CHILDREN’S WEEKLY RUN-DOWN! Our Fall programming continues at Full Steam Ahead! Our weekly STEAM activity is this Thursday @ 4 PM. 

Our Story times continue as normal! Be here for Toddler Time on Tuesday @ 10 AM and @ 10:30 AM, Infant Lapsit Storytime @ 11:15 AM on Tuesday and @ 11 AM on Thursday, and Preschool Storytime on Wednesday @ 11 AM. We also have our Family Storytime presented on Saturday @ 10:30 where you can enjoy stories and a craft! Tickets required upon entry. Pick up your free ticket at the Children's Reference Desk before entering your story time. Tickets will be given to the first 30 children for Toddler Time and Preschool Storytime, 15 for Infant Lapsit, and their caregivers the day of the scheduled event.

Join us at the Parker Williams Branch Library on November 15th at 4:30 PM in the Library Community Room for our Community Craft.

This month, we will be celebrating Fall by creating a Harvest Wreath to put on your door to show your neighborhood your Fall spirit.
